is this a racist comment or apologetic in a complicated way(please first view the clip to understand what i mean)?

I mean just imagine McCain reffering to 'the typical black person', what would the response be then?

what is Obama really saying here?

I honestly don't think Obama will win. I'm sure that most whites
in the States will vote for McCain - despite what polls say. People
say different things these days but at the end of the day,
racial divides are still evident.

Sorry, do you have a transcript, my audio hardware is on the brink,
atm... :(

Thanks! Oh sure, the man has tons of issues. I think the Americans should go beyond race and not vote for him.

This isn't even remotely ambiguous. Obama is spouting the usual anti-white racist viewpoint that all or most whites are racist.

I don't know why you assume the US is such a racist country. If Obama loses, it will be because of his unelectabilty or unsuitability for the job, not because of his race.

This election is not a referendum on race. It is a referendum on socialism and Obama. And it is because Obama is a flaming socialist that he will lose, not because he is black.

Flaming socialist? Malema, Vavi and Ndzimande will definitely argue with you on that statement. I just love how the rightwing media in the US have targeted Obama with so many smears that are unfounded and ridiculous plaster over the problems faced by McBush.

Eight years ago, the same wingnuts in the GOP spread rumours in South Carolina that McCain fathered a child with a black woman- weeks before an important primary there. The level to which they would sink knows no bounds. To top all ironies, McCain has adopted their tactics.

He belongs to a racist organization. The guy's mentor is a racist. So does a statement like this come as any surprise

Exactly.

Yes we haven't seen so many 'right wing' smears since poor Mugabe and Tbone came too power :o. I'm sure "Malema, Vavi and Ndzimande" associated with people who declared war on the government in the name of communism and ran around bombing government buildings as well as being implicated in murder. Feel free to go check if this is a 'right wing' smear.

Of course the NYT running bogus rubbish about McCain having an affair 10 years ago is not a 'left wing' smear. Seems 'smears' like racism is a one way street

US Presidency is a popularity contest, nothing more.

Why would he do that? His mother is white isnt she?

Why would he do that? His mother is white isnt she?

He even hung his mother out to dry in front of the whole would. He claimed he couldn't disown his racist mentor any more than his own mother. A few weeks later he dumps Rev Wright.

What kind of idiot lets a black racist lunatic baptize his coloured children never mind expose them to that racist vitriol week after week :o

Racist organisation? The Democratic Party racist?

You're basically repeating the "talking points" of Hannity, Limbaugh and to a lesser extent O'Reilly.

If Obama was racist, or had done/said anything racist he would've been outed by the same NYT a long time ago. In the US presidential candidates are thoroughly vetted, not just by the media but by their political parties. McCain only came through because he was seen as the best likely to keep the White House.

Back to SA, you clearly are living in the past. The SADF and the apartheid security apparatus didn't keep the Nats in power by way of a peace sign. Both sides were violent in the quest for their goals, at the end of the day the SADF's effort proved to be futile as political change swept through the world in the late 80s/early 90s.

How many times have i heard the phrase "Typical African" on myadsl? Too many to count is the answer. Why do you have a problem when it's reversed?

NB: Sorry Youtube is blocked here, so i can't view the clip at work. I'll check it out when i get home.

*sigh*

His 'church' or do you not consider it racist?

You're basically repeating the "talking points" of Hannity, Limbaugh and to a lesser extent O'Reilly.

So what organization a person belongs to and gives donations to is not a 'talking point'. Who a person associates with including his mentor is not a 'talking point'. So a presidential candidate could be a member of the KKK. Wow

Again look what happened with Mugabe. The guy was a violent, racist marxist and yet according to the some people who no doubt now support Obama he was a 'incorruptible', 'progressive' and 'enlightened leader' who got honorary doctorates, a knighthood and relentless praise from the likes of NYT . So no surprise Obama gets away with what he does. According to the NYT racism is a one way street. The facts are all there. You can go check Obama's pathetically small anti smear site to see that he doesn't deny those comments made by his mentor and giving awards from that 'church' to bigots like Louis Farrakhan.

racism comes from all sides on this forum.
The point is not that something happened on this forum, the point is that a politician, possibly future president said it.

Imagine a white guy running for president refers to 'typical blacks', when bringing up an isolated case, playing an eye for an eye, would you not be concerned?

this is not just only some celeb, this guy is running for power, which means that he, of all people should watch his mouth much more than others.

But still support the idealogy even if he doesnt express it?

well it's even worse if he expresses it, and then stereotypes, even while he has a harvard degree

What's a Harvard degree got to do with anything

There are plenty of idiots with degrees.

I call Obama socialist because of things he has said. Besides his general left-leaning trend, he is well known as the "most liberal" Senator (I forget offhand what survey established that).

Specific things he has said:

Carbon cap system (so does McCain, but I'm NOT voting for McCain)
discussion of redistributing oil money through taxes
he wants to raise taxes on ordinary people
assumes that the US consumption of natural resources has kept poor countries poor (property is theft, economics is a zero-sum game--classic communist nonsense)
Supports mandating an environmental tax on American households and punishing them by refusing to drill for oil

I could go on.

I'm not a McCain supporter. I'm voting for Bob Barr. http://www.bobbarr2008.com/splash/video/?s0618

My complaints about McCain are grievous but not quite as strong.

I think has the date is drawing closer, the Right in the US are actually running scared, scared that someone like Obama could ascend to the presidency, and scared that McCain's case has not been convincing- at the age of 71.

BTW, on the subject of drilling (and the penchant of Americans for gas guzzlers) you might have heard of report commissioned by the US Energy Department which stated that drilling for oil in Alaska would have no significant impact on supplies or even the price of oil.
