Tried out a speed test site I had not heard of for the first time today: http://www.speed.io (via: http://www.ghacks.net/2008/09/11/a-reliable-broadband-speed-test/)
I like it. Here are my results (can I embed images on this forum?): http://speed.io/pics/1114/0527/speed.io.png
Or, text version:
Naturally, the 'provider' detection could use tweaking
But my results prove that they obviously have a local server set up. Also interesting is the 'connections' benchmark. I got an 'Excellent' rating for everything, which apparently means I am "achieving the speed the provider has promised" (http://www.speed.io/faq_en.html#10)
Compared to my speedtest.net results, this is 100Kbit/sec faster on the download, and approximately 20ms lower on latency. Upload speed is the same.
Let the speed.io results-posting commence (post here - remember to mention if you are using SAIX or IS and Shaped, Unshaped or Semi-Shaped)
