I see that Blizzard's Store finally got new stock of their authenticator.

Problem is they don't seem to ship to South Africa.
We also can't ship it to a friend in the UK
(seems they don't allow a South African credit card for payment on a UK shipping address).

I guess we're stuffed, any ideas?
Local vendors planning to sell this thing?

AFAIK this thing will never become manadatory, so we should OK.

TBH i would prefer to have that extra level of security, one of our guildies got both of his accounts hacked when he was away, his mate petitioned a gm to lock them rather than let them get perma-banned due to them being used for botting and now he is having the ballache of getting it back.

Whilst this system is not infallible it does give yet another layer of security

It really sucks that you cant get this in SA.

Payday next week and ill be getting for myself and the wife.

Mailed BTGames about it and they replied that an announcement is due soon (apparently Monday) about a (change of?) local South African distributer for Blizzard. Said they'll only be able to give me more info after Monday. Anyone know about this?

If its true it may also affect our WotLK preorders.

Blizzard Authenticators

It is not so much they don’t ship to RSA but can’t, “they say, due to credit card controls?” ….. Which I personally don’t believe: as they debit my RSA credit card each month, to cover my user account.

As for the Authenticator “again which they will not ship to RSA…. I purchased mine via Ebay at twice the cost, requesting it to be mailed to my RSA Postal Address, According to Tracker it arrived here in RSA. BUT unfortunately went MISSING….. (Heard this before? Yep)… Ebay replaced the missing Authenticator and mailed it to a friend in Houston USA, Who in turn mailed it to me via courier….

The crunch was * For a $6.00 Authenticator from Blizzard * The final cost was $14.00 Ebay plus $83.00 courier (Totalling $97.00 – R727.50) all for a R45.00 Authenticator. LOL As you see I take my World of Warcraft seriously?

I have a RSA Pilot friend that fly’s to Washington DC regularly and Blizzard wouldn’t even send an Authenticator… COD to the Hotel he stays at while over there… “What next?.... The new Extension”

~R120 including shipping & import duties via EBAY. Done this 3 times already without hassles.

Friend from the UK who visited here: R0. I mean the 6 odd pounds it cost him is peanuts.

Thats allot to spend on something that imo should not really be needed (thou I guess, rather safe than sorry?)

I've been playing wow for a few years now from Desktop pc & laptop and never had any problems yet (jinx?). Seen people get hacked right, left and center around me thou. If you start with the basic rules of security and you protect yourself things should be fine 99% of the time. I guess that 1% always is there.

But R800 to keep an Game acct safe. To me thats really crazy.

Never been hacked myself, take the necessary precautions with account details/system security etc.

Although i have been spammed quite a bit by fake emails on my b.net only email address which is making me kind of nervous.

There is no reason not to have one; i chose take2 since i have an account there and they have provided very good tracking and after sales support.
