Hi I have seen seen Route Sentry mentioned in many posts, but what exactly is it and what does it do?

Thanx for any help

Route sentry allows you to have 2 Internet connections on one PC. One connection will be for your cheap, local bandwidth, and the other connection will be for your expensive international bandwidth. Route sentry routes all your local traffic through your local account and your international traffic through your international account automatically for you.

This would therefore mean that browsing local websites, such as mybroadband.co.za, will be a lot cheaper.

looking to get the Netgear DG834G.
Will route sentry still work even if i set it up as Wi-Fi?

yes, route sentry simply splits the internet traffic between a local account and an international account. as mentioned above, the most important thing is having your router set into bridged mode and being able to create multiple pppoe connections from windows.

and then you can play games online local servers, download stuff just like the americans do. is'nt that great

That is just super. But thanks to Telkom I will now have to wait another 2 weeks bcoz they "lost" my ADSL order. Bloody useless fools. And the best of all is when I went to the Telkom shop in Menlyn to talk to the consultant who captured the order....... THEY ARE CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS/MOVING SHOP.

Wonderful hey?.
