I have their vpn but think I mite try this for the download boost.

Yes at first it sounded great then this :(

1. You connect your router / adsl line to a local only account we provide you.

2. You then create a new VPN connection using Windows Networking / Network Connections to our server.

3. You connect your new VPN connection and voila! You now have unshaped access to the world wide web!

I have mailed support and they said this is not a vpn account, but an uncapped express adsl account.

what you said isnt needed

Looks good then. Is it Fibre or Sat bandwidth?

does that mean, e.g. if I sign up tomorrow I have an uncapped account for 7 days only? So the aim is to download as much as you can during those 7 days?

....never makes sense to me either! :) But I suppose the series fans would have a need for 7 days of ripping the crap out of things! ;)

ahhhh not so great then. Thanks for pointing that out Fiekus.

So how much can you download in a week? Rather get 4 friends and each pay R250 a month for neotel prime unlimited (if you have coverage), each of you take the device for 1 week and there you have capless internet for a week for R250 :p

On a 512k line you get a total downlink speed of 4482MB per day, which would be 31374MB for the week. But the problem is that there is a threshold... assuming the threshhold is 5GB per 10 day window, so removing the first 5GB->

Assuming account starting on Sunday at midnight:
No threshold->Do 8h 512 -> 1488MB
12h 512 until 8pm Monday -> 2232MB
8pm->8am (no thresh) 512 ->2232MB
12h 512 until 8pm Tuesday -> 2232MB
8pm->8am (no thresh) 512 ->2232MB
8am->11h30 512, 1130-8pm 128 -> 656MB+ 396MB Wednesday
8pm-8am (Wed,Thurs) 512 : 2232MB x 2
8am-8pm Thursday, Friday 128: 1121MB
8pm Friday- 12am Monday 512 (24+24+4) -> 9672MB

TOTAL DOWN: 26695MB
Taking 15% up : 22695*.15: 4004MB
TOTAL TRANSFER: 30699MB

30GB for R400 is not bad.... :p
