my new billing cycle started today , anytime 100 offpeak package , what i have noticed is that the airtime value displayed on my phone now displays a value EXCL VAT :confused:

@Pitbull,seen that you are in the billing/accounts department , your input will be appreciated

I'm also on MTN Anytime and noticed yesterday that it displays EXCL VAT, my credits is all used up so I'm not sure if my new balance will be R114 incl vat or will it be R87.72 EXCL instead of the R100.

it should be R87.72 , the question is, exactly what amount of airtime are we getting now , the amount excl vat or the amount including vat :confused:

i seemed to have figured it out myself , MTN now bills you excl vat , at the end of the billing cycle then add the vat amount.Thats why they now reflect an exl vat amount for airtime balance.

Why the hell do they want to complicate things?

It's not like *141# not showing data balance was enough. Now they do this.

My god. They should just send us an sms "we don't want customers, will make life as difficult for you as possible till you leave".

I have the same issue...Anytime 350 but only get R307 worth of airtime...Not for me..It's like asking me to pay for a litre of milk, then before I can get the milk from you, you through 114 ml out and then give it to me?

It's like that to me...It's unfair that when we received minutes, we got all the minutes, but now we're getting airtime Value, it's 14% less...

I reckon go back to the minutes system then...suites me better...I logged a complaint on Hellopeter.com

I am looking for the ombudsman's number so I can lodge a formal complaint...

On their website and promotional material they calculate the estimated minutes basded on the R350 or whatever the package you're on and not the one they will eventually give you... in my case: 179 minutes at R1.95 = R350, but on R307 airtime, I only get estimated 157 min..That is misleading the public....

See website and look at the table...

You should still get R350 worth of Airtime, the value is just displayed ex vat, so you'll still get the full R350...

That's not what I'm getting. R307 airtime is what I get..I called 808 a couple of times, those idiots did not know and whoever feeds them their info, ja.....

I also called their billing dept...I was told someone will call me back...Ag, ja...Still waiting for that call....

If you can get me someone or get a MTN person on this forum to reply, great, but I am still waiting...

I've been a loyal MTN supporter for many years...I've kept my number since College days when I got my first phone...

I think it might be time to move....I'm just "dik" of being robbed blind...I will even go to pay as you go..If I buy airtime of R350, I at least know I will get that...

What's in a contract besides getting the phone?

From a Very Angry and upset customer...

Even though it shows R307 ex vat you still get R350 incl vat, just add 14% to the amount.

The only thing that has changed is the way the amount is displayed, and it states ex vat, so u just have to add 14%

If you check your bill, under Basic Telephony, it will show the amount Including vat.

Log onto MTN Active and you'll see that its still R350 (incl vat)

As I understand it the problem is that the VAT belongs to SARS and is collected by MTN on SARS behalf. So as far as MTN is concerned, they are giving you the ex VAT amount of service, which is important when it comes to carry over for contract clients.

Maybe an MTN fundi can confirm or refute.

I understand what you are saying, but VAT does not subtract from the product...If that's the case, then you will have to remove 14% of other products so that you can sell me the product inc VAT..

Ridiculous...All I'm saying, give me the R350 airtime you promised me when you advertised it...then they should not make as if they give you R350 airtime cos they don't! R307 is what you get cos they have to pay VAT...

Not my problem...

So if I have Pay as you go, and buy R350 airtime, will I get R307 airtime? No!

My Point!
