So lately when I've been playing games my pc randomly restarts. It wont give an error, bsod or anything, screen just goes black and *beep* my pc has restarted. This only happens when I'm playing games, not while I'm on my desktop, watching movies, browsing forums etc...

New power supply?

Specs of PC and what PSU do you have atm...

TomsHardware had a nice article on actual power consumption a few weeks ago... And most of the time the recommended PSU are way to much...

E8500
Asus P5Q Deluxe
4870
TRUE 120
2 hdd's
3 case fans

I have a Isonic Megapower 600watt. I have also checked power consumption sites and my pc only requires about 420W of power so I didnt think it was my psu. However seeing as it only restarts while I'm playing games it makes sense that it could be the psu as when I'm playing games the cpu, gpu, ram and so on is being used more so requires more power.

Go to mycomputer properties > advance Tab > startup and recovery > setting >system failure

You'll see an option automatic restart.
Untick it and then tell me what error pops up

Could be a number of software of hardware problems causing the restart.

What are your temps, CPU and GPU. Are you over clocking?

Could also be RAM mismatch. If you have a ‘mix and match’ of RAM modules installed then incompatibility errors could generate restarts. Try run memtest86 to check for possible RAM instability.

Gpu temp is about 50
Cpu temp is about 37

Not overclocked at all... I'm running 2x1gigs of OCZ plat ram... I'll run mem test now quick :)

Could be overheating, but could also be the psu overheating.

To be honest I'm leaning towards psu.

Coolermaster extreme 460 watt should actually be fine. Maybe get the 550watt version if it'll make you sleep better at night.

Well I've had a restart while playing a game already :/

DarkAgent I tried unticking "automatically" restart but that did nothing :( I however went to the event viewer and saw this:

What the heck

So it looks like its actually something do with Vista and not hardware related. I was having restarts so I formatted and reinstalled Vista but I am still getting them... So I flashed my bios to the lastest version and I'm still getting restarts. I've tried a couple of fixes that I found here but nothing yet

Dark I've tried uploading the pic to sagallery but it gives me erros. Will try later.
