I've had enough... when we signed up for the Prime connection 2 months ago, we got 90KBps downloads over the weekend and about 60KBps during the week. This was in line with expectations (we are using a directional antenna, so the signal strength is great [RSSI = 62]). Currently, if we get 35KBps we are lucky. Add to this that our connection is constantly being reset by the Neotel servers and you can understand why this has become an issue for me. I spend more time re-dialling my connection that I do browsing web pages.

I'm sick of it Neotel... I've called in to the call centre 3 times over the last 2 weeks. The excuse was an authentication issue on the server. Fix it please... there really is no point in uncapped internet it it's at a snails pace, and you have to keep reconnecting!

I'm considering cancelling the contract (even if I have to pay for the unit cost) and exploring other providers. This is unacceptable.

Now that the rant is over... thank you for the response. I will send the details via private message.

To let others here know, I just got a call from the rep explaining what was going on in my case. Thanks for the response Neotel Rep. You have answered all my questions. I am hoping that the upgrades over the next few weeks manage to stabilise the network a bit, and prevent these types of issue from occurring.

Thanks again.

I am also in Bellville and eventually got gatvol from the same problems (particularly the continuous disconnects). A techie even came to see me. I was told that the problem had been fixed more than once, but it persisted.

So on 1 December (you can ONLY cancel on the 1st of a month) I cancelled.

Well, I thought I did because Neotel failed to cancel on their end, and they're still sending me accounts (and taking R999 out of my bank account every month).

My 'cancellation' request has now been escalated TWICE, but todate have still not been officially informed that it is effective, and that they won't steal money from my account.

Does anyone know how to cancel a neotel account properly?

Weirdest part is that last month, a woman phoned me up because apparently the agent (Postnet) here in Bellville had not submitted all my documentation, and they wanted me to send it in. When I told her I had already cancelled, she started talking about me returning the handset. She said someone from down here (as opposed to up there in Joburg) would phone me to arrange the return of the hand set.

Still waiting for that call too.

Cheers, Ian
