I had a 500mb databundle with 58mb left, so I bought a new 500mb bundle. By using *141*1*3# I then got this:

Y'ello, you have
558.33 MB total data.
58.33 MB exp on 27/06
500.00 MB exp on 27/07
Brought to you by MTN.

The next day, after some usage, I got this:

Y'ello, you have
527.58 MB total data.
48.06 MB exp on 27/06
479.51 MB exp on 27/07
Brought to you by MTN.

Why the hell isn't it using up the first data bundle before starting on the next?

Thats crazy - Vodacom did the same thing with me recently - used up my new bundle first, so when it ran out, my old bundle had already expired, and they charged me out of bundle rates!

Please let me know if you get this sorted out :) I'm thinking of moving to MTN for data use.

Well, here's what it looks like today. CRAZY!
Its trying to use up the new bundle first. MTN fix this!

Y'ello, you have
503.17 MB total data.
48.06 MB exp on 27/06
455.10 MB exp on 27/07
Brought to you by MTN.

Now I have the below balances. This a blatant attempt by mtn to steal my bundle. You can clearly see the older bundle not being used up first.

Y'ello, you have
480.67 MB total data.
48.06 MB exp on 27/06
432.60 MB exp on 27/07
Brought to you by MTN.

Y'ello, you have
410.12 MB total data.
48.06 MB exp on 27/06
362.05 MB exp on 27/07
Brought to you by MTN.

Seriously, no one at mtn can explain this?

This sucks man . I bought a 2gig prepaid data bundle on the 5th May 2009 , this morning I log on using mdma it says that I have 1.3gigs left . When I try and go online this afternoon there is no data left WTF?????
I have now just purchased more airtime and it works again .
I thought MTN couldnt steal your airtime on prepaid , well guess again .
According to them your data bundle should last up to 60 days , which means mine should only expire on the 30th June .
Anybody know what is happening here .

I know ! , im being charged for data received and data sent . At the moment According to what i know mtn does not charge for received data this means if 3g is active (mixit ) and im not using the internet guess what im being charged for it . You should keep phoning till you get answer .

im being charged for data received and data sent .
That is correct.
At the moment According to what i know mtn does not charge for received data this means if 3g is active (mixit ) and im not using the internet guess what im being charged for it .
You should be charged for sent data and received data. You are not charged for the time you are online though.

Cosmo , you are definately going to be charged for data (sent and received) As ginggs said , you dont get charged for the amount of time you are online .

You are not alone!

Y'ello, you have
1.92 GB total data.
70.41 MB exp on 21/06
1.85 GB exp on 21/07
Brought to you by MTN.

Trying to find anyone at MTN that speaks joined up English or has a vague idea of WTF I'm talking about is impossible!!

Is there any contact number MTN have reserved for data billing problems?

Well, the 27th came and I did indeed lose the data on the first bundle. MTN, in 2 months time I will be as gone from your netword as my data is from my account.
