the story broke this morning through Marca

http://www.marca.com/2009/06/11/futbol/equipos/real_madrid/1244673031.html

Cristiano Ronaldo will play in Real Madrid from next season, However, Florentino Perez must pay 96 million euros that David Gill, chief executive of Manchester United, demanded during their last conversation.

Christian becomes the most expensive player in the history of world football

The Portuguese player, Balon de Oro 2008, will coincide in the ranks of Real Madrid with ***a, designated the world best footballer in 2007, forming one pair of the most powerful offensive planeta.Cristiano and meet the dream of his life, something that intuited since Jorge Valdano, a visit to TVE, Madrid ensure that the "know how" to the player in its dual version of football star and media.

Christian will thus become the most expensive player in world football history, surpassing the record set in 2001 by Zinedine Zidane, who also arrived and with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, in exchange for 72 million euros
for everyone who's spanish is not up to scratch :D

Manure fans get ready for a bump ride the next few days

I see this one being drawn out right to the close of the transfer window. Hopefully it does so it leaves Man U with loads of money but no time to buy anyone.

I dont think so ,look at Perez's track record when it comes to transfers he doesnt like drawn out saga's look how quickly the k.a.k.a deal was done as soon as he took charge of Madrd again it was literally a couple of days ,and we only in the 2nd week of off season

it would be insanely stupid (if that's even possible) to pay so much for a player (like man city tried with ***a). man u would be even stupider to turn that kind of money. they don't need him to keep winning the league. the other epl teams are in enough awe at mention of the name with or without ronaldo.

Breaking news on Sky. Man United have accepted a 80mil pound bid. United don't want to accept but Ronaldo has told them he wants to go. Don't know whether to be happy or not. United isn't the same without him however 80mil will be enough to buy at least two world class players.

At bloody last, now we can rid this drama and move on. End of thread.

Manchester United have confirmed they have accepted a bid from Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo's future at United has been the subject of constant speculation, with Real having trailed his signature for the last three summers.

Real president Florentino Perez has made no secret of the fact that he would like to lure Ronaldo to El Santiago Bernabeu.

The Spanish titans have now agreed an ÂŁ80million offer for the Portuguese ace and United have given the World Player of the Year permission to talk to the capital club.

Ronaldo will head to the Spanish capital to hold discussions with Real and undergo a medical.

Real have already snapped up Brazilian superstar ***a in a world-record deal, but a move for Ronaldo would significantly eclipse that figure.

"Manchester United have received a world-record, unconditional offer of ÂŁ80million for Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid," read a club statement.

"At Cristiano's request - who has again expressed his desire to leave - and after discussion with the player's representatives, United have agreed to give Real Madrid permission to talk to the player.

"Matters are expected to be concluded by 30th June. The club will not comment until further notice."

Man, goes to show how bitter some 'fans' are.. Can't even use the proper name of a club in the thread title.

Good riddance. Imagine if he suffered a career ending injury just after moving :o

can't believe i heard the news first on 5FM (from a DJ not news reader) and immediately called BS. But bang - all seems true! good business there Sir Alex :)

Boooo freakin hoooo :D they will always be Manure in my eyes ,cant wait for next season :D:D:D

Lol Liverpool supporters never gave any credit to Ronaldo, yet you all smiling when hes leaving!

There you go Genius, Ronaldo will be better than Messi in your league

Best news! The premier league will be 10x more enjoyable without looking at his c**t-face and dealing with his histrionics.
I might even hate United less... :D
That would make them just above Spurs then.

Seems that more Anti-United fans are interested in this than United fans.
They must be thinking they have a chance next year.....shame:D

I take that back. They're still the worst.

I must say La Liga will be very interesting nest year between Barca and Real. Barca have the best team in the world, but Real will end up with a star-studded lineup as well. El Classico should be exciting!
