They are employing a tried and tested method called fishing. The schweet deals are the bait, and the contracts are the hook. Then they scale you (the billing system) and then they slice you up (unanswered queries).

Their billing system is really something:
  • It runs from the 13th of the month.
  • They have no problem taking your money at month end.
  • They'll bill you months after you used a service.
  • They'll bill you for OOB when you haven't ever used your bundle in full.
  • Queries are queued for two weeks before anyone woks on it, if ever.

Here here fishies :p

This is so true, i'm on a Anytime 200 the thing that gets me the most is that their billing is never up to date so i'd check my remaining airtime and it would say that i've got R150 so i'd carry on and make calls next thing the next day when i check it has 'updated' and i have R0 left and i have a R150 bill....

And their bill limit never works

I have been cut off for the remained of the month on Vodacom and CellC contracts if I have gone over the limit.

Mtn are a bunch of numb skulls! I just moved to VC, much better service.

There seem to be a lot of people experiencing this problem - and MTN seems to deny any wrong-doing. Has anybody had their bills sorted out or is there still problems? Maybe it is time for a legal alternative?

I'm also porting one of my contracts to Vodacom, hopefully this weekend. MTN generally offers better deals, but if you stay in Gauteng, you can get some pretty good deals at Vodaworld.

My billing period runs from the 27th. Have a had a contract with them for 4-5 years now with the billing period remaining unchanged.

The rest of the stuff u r saying... pretty scary. Though I don't bother with any bundles anymore cause I hardly use at data and don't send a lot of sms'es.

Turned my 3G off cause it was causing problems with my Omnia.
