Hi guys,
You may have seen my problem over here:http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=184881 where I formatted my HDD thus earasing 250GB of stuff...

I have now found a program that can "un format"/restore all the file :) I am 30% through and I can already see a problem:sick:

All the files/pics/.exe/vids etc etc are all in ONE big folder(Drive E). Which means that none of my things are in the folders they were in before the acident!

All my photos (35GB worth) are now mixed up:( Plus I used to have such a neat PC with my filing system so well organised (now I dont have ANY files :( )

So Once the restoring is done... I know this is a long shot but here goes: Is there a program that will/can put them all back into their original places? (they are being restored onto the same drive!)

Thanks

Nope. You have to do it manually.

Tip: Make regular (at least weekly) backups of your data on a separate hard drive. Your newly-formatted 250GB drive might well pack-up today...

Why well it pack up?
I am getting a 1TB soon to put all my stuff on(then use the 320GB HDD for my OS)

don't fscking restore to the same drive! thats like getting a flat on your rear tyre and swapping it for one of your front ones!

how the hell are you a Dealer?

BUMP.... Any1 know a solution?

The old directory structure has been overwritten since you restored to the same drive. Had you not, I'd have suggested you'd use the other recovery app I recommended.

In the old days DOS 5.0 and up saved hidden MIRROR data which helped recover directory info with the unformat command. When formatting you could opt to save 'unformat' data on the formatted drive or use the mirror command.
