When is the Nokia N900 landing in S.A.?

I'm also looking out for the Nokia N900.

As a look from the past....the N97 came out in Europe at the beginning of June. And then it arrived here in SA around beginning of August. So it took 2 months to arrive from Europe.

Much quicker than before. I remember when I was waiting for the Nokia N90. I remember it being released in Europe and it took nearly 6 month to get released here in South Africa. So they have improved the time of release here in SA.

Nokia N900 get released in Europe at the beginning of October....so I'm hoping for a South African release some time in December......just in time for Xmas and my upgrade!!!
 
I'm currently in the states and see that the n900 is available for pre-order @ US$650
This isn't too bad considering the n97 is @ US$599.

I think it's out here in October, and judging by how fast we got the n97 in SA, I rate December also...

I'm hoping it's on some reasonable contract from Vodacom with a not to absurd payin by Jan/Feb? Lol, I just read what I typed :erm:

Anyway, here's hoping... my upgrade is in Feb, so hopefully it'll all be perfectly timed.
 
Yeah, not sure it's coming to SA at all. I've never seen any of the previous Nokia "internet tablets" here in SA.

Who'd be able to confirm?

Well the N900 seems big all over, as big as N97, I don't see a reason why they wouldn't bring it to SA.
 
I'd expect it to come to SA because it's such a big step for nokia. Anyway, you're right... lets await confirmation.
 
i want to try and get it on mtn. I dont know what vodafone will try with that o/s. Probably butcher it
 
Yeah, but then you just change the product code to a generic EURO one, download the new firmware and tah-dah....no more Vodafone rubbish on it.

Well hopefully that's how it will work with this new phone & new OS.

It was launched at Nokia World on 2 September 2009 and is expected to be released on 27 September 2009 in the United States and on 19 October 2009 in 9 European countries.

Although, I don't know how accurate that is.

Unfortunately, Tania Steenkamp, the Nokia representative in SA said:
"The #N900 will not be ranged in SA at this stage - it going to a few select markets only for now"

So maybe in the future, but it doesn't seem like there are any immediate plans to bring it here...

i saw some ppl pre ordered on nokia online and getting it 1 oct. Why dont s.a. have a online store?

Why man? What's the reason? It's getting released in Vodafone in the UK? And Vodacom is practically Vodafone.

It's pointless Nokia bringing out the phone 6 to 12 months after the release. By then it's practically obsolete!

Damn, I was so looking forward to this phone for my contract upgrade in Jan.

Frak....now will have to save up and get one from the UK!!!
