Spectrum: Use it or lose it says iBurst CEO

What are the chances of the SA government taking spectrum away from a state owned company and allocating it to a private company? Pretty slim I rate :(

Don't forget Neotel and all its big range of allocated spectrum.

Neotel decided from the get go that they are not going to use wired for last mile (making Telkom a monopoly for life) and got a very nice allocation from ICASA.
What do they do? Instead of aggressively expanding their network with towers in metro areas they are satisfied with just a couple towers resulting in pathetic coverage even with external antennas in those major metro areas.

The majority of users who have coverage are so far from the few towers that speeds are comparable with dial up.

give them 2 weeks, and it will all be used since their special..... i'm sure they are very very busy signing up new users

Sentech has a special going? Do share. I thought they are withdrawing from the retail market, as per the article.

Jannie does have a point, he is quite correct. It comes as no suprise that spectrum will be reallocated if you are not using it effectively or at all.

In the case of Sentech I absolutely agree with his sentiments. In all my dealings with Sentech, they've struck me as an organization devoid of any real direction....
