The Fastest Way To Download Life

This is what is on the Advert

" Get A Life On-Line Today

Telkom's DSL offerings give you really fast Internet access, which means that the information you're looking for is yours at super fast speeds. Telkom DSL is broadband access that comes in a variety of speeds at various prices designed to suit your pocket. Download everything from music to movies and much more in seconds not minutes with HomeDSL from Telkom. "

Then get this they have links on the ad. for sites to download movies, music, games etc...

------

   THE BIG QUESTION IS... TELKOM WHY OH WHY DO U CAP US AT 3GIGS, when your advert states that we can download movies.. That means we can download approx 3 movies and then where capped...

ANYONE seen this insert ad in the FHM, commments please.

I have just re-read the telkom document that defines abuse of service. In that document they say that downloading music and movies is deemed an abuse of the service and they have the right to shut you down.

CERTAINLY THIS MUST BE A CASE FOR THE ADVERTISING BOARD???

PeoPod, RPM or Debbie2, please follow up on This

Were the Sites in the add legit, or were they sites to torrent links etc etc
Whar will the RIAA say

Secondally, This goes against there ICASA Submission statements
Thirdly, How can the justify movie downloads at the proposed per GIG billing prices

700 MB movie at per gig pricing will be more expensive than a movie ticket

Please note that the Product known as HomeDSL does not have any absue of service document attached to it at all. The document that you are refuring to applys to ADSL which is seperate from DSL.
DSL and ADSL are 2 different terms with DSL meaning "Digital Subscriber Line" and ADSL meaning "Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line".

No where on Telkom's s***ty website does it mention the terms and conditions for DSL access. Telkom does not even know what they are talking about, which is well the norm for them. Us educated IT ppl know a bit more about basic technology terms than what Telkom does.

"music to movies from minutes to seconds?" That covers anything from forever to soon.

Telkom defined acceptable use and abusive use during the ICASA hearings.

See the ICASA report for details.

I'm pretty sure ASA needs to have a look into it.

Also touch the speed issue - it is NOT super fast - compare with what is available in the rest of the world.

Can I ask that people scan, record, digitize or take snapshots of any Telkom DSL advertising they can find in the print media as well as broadcast media. Mail it to me at [email protected]

If the file is too big to mail, ask me for alternative upload information and it will be provided. I would like to make an archive of this for future use. Telkom is digging its own grave over the long term.

Thanks

Will do but the problem for me isn't that the file is too big but the poster is too big to scan in one go - its almost A3. Of course you could always buy FHM - for the articles of course ;)

thats interesting.. download in seconds.... my http works fine... i struggle to get 1kb on p2p... cool.. so whats the ratio? 1:10000?

Planning to do that...

There is also a two page advert in the Men's Health magazine on page 136 of the September 2005 issue. It says 'Broadband made simple.'

Then there is a picture of a house with the following text:

'Dad's busy doing his day's banking online,' 'Stuart is dicing with some guy in a Porshe. In Sao Paulo' , 'Mom's buying some books from the U.K. ' Andrew is downloading The Matrix,' ' Caroline is on the phone...shh.. to her boyfriend'

Here is a link to the ad: Telkom 'Broadband ad' (my apologies for bad quality)

Wouldn't that be illegal ? :p

I like the dinosaur pictured in the bottom right corner.

I'd say that's a very fitting image reflecting the terrible state of broadband provided by Telkom !

I'll keep my eyes peeled for ADSL adverts that might be popping up over the place, and will post them once found.

lol....

Wanted : Dead or Alive - Telkom ADSL Advertisements.

:p :D
