Good Day the People... After failing to install Ubuntu Linux on my pc 6 times. I finally got it going last night. I realised that Setting up iburst for the internet is not as easy as Redhat. I need help on configuring my ubutu to go to the internet using the iburts. Thanks

Hola JET,
I hope u have the ethernet card and is recognised by Ubuntu. If so,
try this in the terminal ...
Code:
sudo pppoeconf
I think u press enter until it shows where u put your username: [email protected] and password:*******. Follow the instructions after that.

you could also use adsl-start and adsl-stop.
Just type adsl-setup in root to set it up.

Abuntu rocks!

Assuming you have rp-pppoe as sihen suggested use adsl-setup to configure it and than use adsl-start and adsl-stop. You need to be root to do so though.

i gave up on ubuntu/iburst and got myself linspire 5/iburst still no internet... frustration mounts.

hmmm.... im also using ubuntu linux, i can get it to work using my ethernet port, but i would prefer to use usb, however i cannot get ubunto to find my modem, any advice?

On Ubuntu I got the UTD to work on USB by first compiling a new kernel as I always got errors making new modules. If u want a HOW-TO for Ubuntu say so and I'll try by all means to make one.

Hi Olsmithy & all
(I posted this on Sean's blog as well so pardon the redundancy...;))
I'm a Linux noob an I am really desperate for some top, top, top assistance. Been battling a while now with my iBurst USB modem driver and hope there is someone out there that can help? I have been through umpteen forums and threads and tried literally everything I read, but to no avail.

I have installed the (Jkroon) open source ibriver-2.6.31 for my iBurst USB modem. Initially all went well with fast connection etc., connection everytime I boot, until... I started updates of 10.04 LTS, that is when I became aware, from the forums, that a re-install of the driver is required after every package update due to no "package management" in the iBdriver. what a pain in the proverbial to say the least!

Anyways.. now I am the stage where the driver is always installed, but...all of a sudden, I need to run pppoeconf and set up the driver after each boot to get connected!!!! If I can't find a solution it will force me back to Windoze7 which I dread to do! Can a script be written to pppoeconf (rp-pppoeconf.is is loaded I think) automatically during boot perhaps or is there some simple answer?

(I should maybe mention that the other day I performed the "Grub2 Profile" exercise to try and speed up the boot time, this does not perhaps have something to do with the fact that I need to reconfigure in pppoeconf after every boot does it? I doubt it) Please help?!?!?
Johan
