Anyone find a solution for this one:

Aircard 775 used in a laptop (and Acer 2.66 on XP Pro SP2 and then a Siemens Centrino 1.6 with XP home). In both cases the card worked fine for a while but then you would insert the card and Watcher does not launch. If you start Watcher automatically it shows no hardware detected.

However, XP does see something and it allows you to "Safely remove Sierra Wireless Aircard EDGE Adapter Parent". When you reinstall the software and reinsert the card it says "There is a problem with your hardware, some devices could not be installed correctly" or something similar.

But I know the card itself is ok because I am using it now on my DELL to post this thread!

It feels like the uninstall does not completely remove everything, so short of reinstalling the OS, does anyone have any ideas?

I am trying the Sierra Wireless site as well so I will post any progress I have if any.

Thanks!

Sidelong.

Ok ... problem solved (on the Acer at least, for now).

Was a hardware conflict and resolution was as simple as going to device manager and enabling the Aircard's network adapter. Good support from the Sierra Wireless site!

I must say, though, that I hope these kinds of things are resolved in later cards. I also had issues when using a static IP address on another network card as this IP takes precedence over the Aircard's dynamic IP. This doesn't work when for example you connect to a work domain using a static IP (fortunately don't need the Aircard in that scenario).

Overall, having used a few different hardware devices, the Sierra Wireless still gets my vote, although the Tektonika USB GSM/GPRS/EDGE modem is overall easier to use.
