Please add to the list the stuff you would like to do but cannot do or can't do too much of because of the cost of bandwidth and the stupid bit-capping by Telkom. Even the little things. As soon as you hisitate to think about the cap, mention whatever it is you wanted to do here:

1. Listen to online radio. It costs too much. Even South African online radio isn't practical anymore because we get capped locally these days.

2. No use in subscribing to services like NAPSTER or iTunes online because the costs involved in using such services to the full is astronomical.

3. Local multimedia services are as good as dead in the water. Where are the iFILMS of South Africa?

4. Even sites like quicktime.apple.com that offer good quality movie trailers are now not a good place to view content from. It litterally sets you back a couple of rands for one trailer view... Stuff people take for granted overseas.

5. Cannot play online games indefinately. It litterally costs too much to play with our rediculously priced bandwidth.

6. For the sake of preventing other people from exploiting this loophole I am mentioning PORN in MY list. :D

I've found a million small things that would just not work here - an application called Orb (www.orb.com) allows you to stream movies/music/files etc. over you broadband connection. A guy I know in the UK uses this (and his 3G contract that provides him unlimited data) to stream music to wherever he is... :(

7. Use VOIP to its full extend.

I cannot do what I want because of the cap. I like 702 or 567 rad but prefer a local Liverpool station. Hell but that's life.

NO KENG THATS TELKOM

And since im clearly on a roll, top of my list of things I cant do because Telkom has limited data usage is:

Anything at all for half of every month!!

Telkoms response: buy more bandwith

I just do not even want to post my list here, Just makes me more morbid and wonder why we have this "broadband" in the first place. I did have fun on line, now I have this constant nag of whats the stats now. becoming skitso. And end up reading more news and moan than ever before

I try to think and formulate words to tell the world how I feel about Telkom, but the white flashes extreme anger causes don't allow me to.

It would probably be so profane that everyone that reads it WILL go blind.

(See? I can't even use proper grammar when writing about Telkom.)

Telkom

I am new but following the forum daily and realize we are being
abused by TELKOM/SAIX!

I support DOTCO with their action against the BIG BULLY and believe
all ISP should action legal procedings now:mad:
Lets all stop supporting TELKOM totally mayby their loss of revenue
will help them to come to their senses if they have any.

When I was on dial-up I couldn't watch video streams because of the bandwidth. Now I can't watch them because of the cap.

Cant download the latest linux versions ISO's.
Fedora Fc4 is 2.5gig, does not leave much bandwidth to do anything else
back to the foot lan again (going to get it from a friend)

Cant sleep at night knowing that everytime i pick up my phone i send one of Telkom's employee's packing off to seychelles....

sadly cannot join the information age, nor will my children be part of the information nation because guess what, Telkom have a stranglehold on us.
Sick Sick Sick

I listen to alot of music that is not played on radio in ZA, used to listen to samples and streams on the artists websites and also on online radio, was the only way i could hear them before i could buy their albums, so much for that.
Also would like to get back into pvp in eve-online, but alas i need to use teamspeak for that.
