Just ordered myself a Medion Titanium MD 8800 computer through friends in Europe. The specs are:

  • Intel Pentium D Dual core 830 processor @ 3 GHz
  • 2 x 1 MB L2-cache, 800 MHz FSB
  • BTX shaped, optimized airflow, heatpipe cooling
  • 1024 MB DDR2 SDRAM with 533 MHz 64-bit dual channel memory
  • NVIDIA GeForce 6700XL videocard with 128 MB memory (SDDR3/1100MHz)
  • 250 GB 7200 rpm Seagate (S-ATA 150)
  • Dual TV function: record one channel while watching another
  • 2 x DVB-S digital satellite TV receivers
  • 2 x Analogue TV/cable-TV receivers
  • Sony 16x Dual layer multistandard DVD/CD burner
  • Sony 16x DVD-ROM
  • 54Mbits WLAN
  • Built-in 8-in-1 USB 2.0 card reader
  • 6 x USB 2.0 ports (2 x front, 4 x back)
  • 2 x Firewire ports (1 x front, 1 x back)
  • Dolby Digital 8 channel Intel High Definition Audio
  • V.90 PCI data/fax/modem
  • Integrated 10/100 Mbit ethernet controller
  • Headset with microphone
  • Optical wireless mouse with charger
  • Wireless keyboard
  • Remote control
  • 2 Multimedia speakers (a bit on the bad side for the sound card!)

Further, XP Home SP2, PowerCinema, PowerDirector, PowerProducer, PowerDVD, Medi@show, eTrust Antivirus, Nero Burning ROM 6, Nero Recode 2 SE and MS Works Suite 2006 included.

I paid approximately R14,000.- all inclusive!

Nice going dude

Just be carfull, Medion titanium PC's tend to produce and trapp alot of heat. make sure u got a nice air circulation in there:

The box actually has 2 large ventilation panels on each side. If I make sure it is standing in a well ventilated place, I don't think it will be a problem. I had a Medion power machine previously (the first P4 2GHz), and it never gave me any hassles!

cool, the thing i like about medions is that nomatter what spec they are they are built to run very quietly. most of the time u dont even notice ur machine running.

Only thing i dont really like bout ur specs is the fact that it has an intel processor. The Pentium D's are really crap when compared to any AMD X2!!!

AMD FTW!!!

DUDE i wud chose Intel over AMD in a heartbeat anyday

by the way, im sitting here with a Medion 17'' Lcd monitor wit a cracked lcd. it was accidently shot with a BB gun

i dont know dude, i got no info on it, im pushing a crappy 5500 (256)

hey ngage55

how does the fx55000(256mb) conpare wit the Radeon 9600 (128mb)

Not precisely sure bout benchmarks and so on, havent seen many on the FX5500, but i'd say the 9600 could be better.

But here's quite a few ppl on this forum who'd be able to tell you a whole lot more

AFAIK the 6700 is an enhanced version of the 6600, but not quite a 6800 yet. Will let you know how it performs when I get the machine.

kongwane, those LCDs from Medion are awesome. I am thinking about ordering a 19" from Europe as well. The only thing I don't like is the 1280x1024 resolution. I'm used to 1600x1200 for 4:3 views, and are running 1920x1200 on my notebook. But, for an all in price of R3,850.- I think the Medion is still a very good deal.

well sitting here with an awsome lcd that has a BB bullet hole in it make u feel kinda crappy, LCD is crackekd and broken but the backlight still works. please tell me if u can get a good deal on a medion 17'' LCD

Special running at the Aldi supermarkets in the Netherlands. Don't know whether it's still on though...
