The release of the Samsung D-600. Just like all the other slide/flip Samsungs, it has the flex cable factory fault which will result in your Samsung's LCD not functioning after a couple of days/weeks/months. Even if it didn't break yet, still take it to VodaCare so that they can do an inhouse Flex cable repair on it.

Samsung D-500: Same as D-600, LCD burning / mirroring / fading / blank. Flex Cable, same with ALL the other models.

* If your flex cable breaks out of the 2 year warranty & it takes the LCD with it, you're gonna pay atleast R 1800 for D600 LCD. R 1200+/- for D500.

Samsung: Microphone / Speaker {cable snapping} is a daily thing. Flip phones for the BLEH.

** Sales Reps will always try to sell you a motorola or Samsung, 2 least Reliable phones on the market because its the only 2 brands they get incentive on. Like in browny points = free LCD tvs or fridges etc.. YOU MUST RESIST BUYING A SAMSUNG OR MOTOROLA ... SALES REP = DARKSIDE

Nokia 6680: If you got the VodaPhone Live pre-installed 6680 during this time, chances are that your phone will not working 100% is 100%. If you have the "vanilla 6680" chances that your memory stick that comes with your 6680 aint working 100% is <100%.

Software faults in the vanilla 6680: Keypad lights has PMS, goes on when their not sepose to go on. Knows when its dark outside, because it never goes on then.

Vanilla 6680's that went in for VLive upgrades all got f****ed. And all 6680's were stoped from upgrading to VLive.

5140i: Loves to be chowed by dogs or babies
6230/i: Software errors -- Get upgraded *#0000# v4+ atleast
7260, 2600: Very trusty.
9300: Fax / DATA line problems -- Software *backup memory & phone
6260: Back cover falls / break off easily. +/- R 260 - 360 to replace.
6630 / NGage / 7610 - VIRUS PRONE
6810/6820/6800 - IF YOU HAVE ONE OF THESE, THROW IT AWAY, SAVE YOURSELF.

Motorola:
If you have ANY motorola, throw it off the next bridge. Motorola = endless ****. V220 - camera, software, flex cable: V3 - crappest phone ever to be released by them. If you press your finger to hard on the sides you can break your phone, Great Game; no warranty. If you drop it from the top of your pocket so that it slides in (like in the advert), chances that it will break = good. Bluetooth connection errors.

Siemens: Siemens Mobile is in South Africa, wait no, they left again, wait they back. Try getting a part for a siemens phone. There is some 3rd party company that repairs them now.

Sony Ericson:
P910 - excelent sale, can be upgraded to blackberry software. 100% of the hand ins were - Phone landing under the car's wheel, in the swimming pool, in a Milky Lane milkshake. 100% Trustworthy phone.
----------------------------
V800 - software errors MASSIVE, unable to connect to notebooks/pc OR dialup via GPRS or 3G. When someone phones you it doesn't come through. Very good phone when its working. Send to ARC / 10 day TAT.
------------------------------
K750i - Memory stick errors.

LG:
DIEkthxbi, dont keep it in your pocket, the paint may melt.

Blackberry:
k@K, dont get it. LCD burns & prone to crack which takes it out of warranty +/- R 1600 repair on LCD.

I-Mate: Unless you stay near LEAF in midrand you're gonna wait a LOOONG time if you have to send this phone in for repairs.

thats about it

Damn, may I ask where you got this list? I only use Sony Ericsson so I haven't come across the other manufacturers problems. But have to say apart from treating my P910 very carefully, mindful of it's touchscreen, I haven't had any problems with the phone...it intergrates well with my PC via BT and the supplied software is charm when synching with Microsoft Outlook.

I disagree with you about the Motorolas - I have a V300, and you wouldn't believe how many times I've dropped. Onto carpet, tiles, gravel ... there's a couple of nicks and scrapes on the casing, but it still works 100%. No damage to the screen (internal or external) or anything else, just very minor cosmetic issues. Seriously, about 10 minutes before I read your post I'd just dropped it again, and was thinking how it was almost indestructible :-)

Wow!

It seems like no cellphone can be used because they're all k*k!

I love my D600. OK it's been only 2 weeks....but....what a cool phone...

I'll just have to make sure it fails under warranty!

LOL

Hands on experience :P

Like I said the P910 is briliant, but for some reason it likes to end up underneath someone's car wheel.

Sure. But you started off referring to motorola's in general :-)

Obviously I can't speak for the other models.

I was going to respond to Unproudly's post when I noticed he got the info from posts made on the forum during Nov/Dec posted by various forumites (basically a summary of faults posted here) but decided against it. I have had a SEv800 for 8 months now with none of the issues listed above - also have a d500 with no issues (sold it as I did not like the software/menu structure but it's still running 100%)
