Due to sun interference on our satellite links twice daily from the 22nd to the 26th March 2006 @ 15h05 and 15h48 (SAST), the IS International Satellite Access service will be affected.

The brief interruptions of service may last from one minute, up to a maximum of 8 minutes each.

Regards
The IS Ops Team.

edit: This is not a joke, official notice from IS.

hmmmmm......

This can be possible if one thinks about it..with care :P

Either its tru or clipse has been at the drink again!!

lets hope it passes soon

ROFL - first the rain, now the sun. At what point is IS not affected? Partly cloudy? Partly sunny? Night time - unless it is raining?
Is it OK at the mentioned times if it is raining? Or does the rain inteference supersede the sun interference.

Sat has always been cheap as it has so many things that can affect it.

This is why its used for uncapped ADSL. you can get fiber uncapped adsl units at 3 times the price and accounts at 3 times the price.

Or just use Saix based accounts.

IS - How is that planned second 1Gbps satellite link coming on?

Because with this second satellite in place in a different time zone / location than surely the above mentioned problem can be avoided.

I have two clients on the 1024KB IS ADSL uncapped business offering (@ R4000 total per month) that had enough of this IS nonsense and are considering their options with SAIX/Telkom.

Get your act sorted out ASAP our you will see business clients converting to Telkom before you can even wipe out your eyes!
