iburst vs sentech (9g vs 512k)? *update*

any opinions?

Primarily used for a VPN solution which will 90% of the time be a Terminal Service into our Jhb office.
- our head office in jhb is ADSL 1024, umhlanga is 512k sentech - file transfers are nothing to shout about - basically a 10meg file transfer takes about 8 minutes. Skype calls are lousy (bad latency?)

adsl to adsl works lovely, sentech to adsl is ok'is, workable, but sentech to adsl is atrocious. i'm guessing sentechs upload speeds arent up to scratch
or shaped?

How would iBurst 9g compare? cant get adsl due to our area being 'fibre'.

lastly. Anyone recommend an iBurst reseller in durban? i need to have a signal test done, if and i'm sure its fine but if need be they can install the antenna for better reception

Sentech is the better solution only if you intend to transfer over 9Gb a month, since you'll have a 40GB soft cap and can enjoy reasonable speed up to, and probably beyond the cap.

But in all other respects, Iburst is a faster, cheaper, and the G9 is unshaped. I can typically d/l a 10mb file in under 2 minutes. After the cap, though, you are down to 64kbps unless you choose to get back to top speed by buying extra bandwidth at R349/3Gb

thanks guys. Fantastic1 agreed to do a signal test, probably sign up with him if all goes to plan.

All in all we'll only use about 5 or 6 gigs, but rather have the spare gigs *just in case*

I tried using the Iburst to connect to our work with a 512 (IS) lease line the connection is slow yet the bw is available so hope that helps

*update*
anyway Fantastic1 hooked up me a nice deal on the destkop and 9gig package. excellant service (he's round the corner from us so thats good)

comparison to sentech 512? miles apart
i used to ping our server
from adsl (jhb) to kzn(sentech512) pings where about 800 to 900ms at times even more!!

on iburst
from adsl (jhb) to kzn 9g iburst, pings are between 95 to 180, occasionally 200 to 250.

should have a sentech desktop modem & ethernet cable for sale in coming weeks :) - got 1 1/2 months left on there so i might just hook it up at home and steal some bandwidth

we would always provide the best service especially if we are confident in the product we sell... iBurst service and support is great...

Naeem - thanks for the business and honest responses.... Max your server with iBurst...

That have been some complaints regarding advertising in this thread...

I see no problem in a company offering assistance as per this thread.

Yes, but it is also a direct response to a question from naeem. If Fantastic1 had started a thread with that message, or the post just popped up out-of-context, I'm sure it would have been zapped.

if someone requires assistance and asks for it what should we tell them ... that they need to go and figure it out :)
we posted our details since we are in umhlanga.
