Fuel tax to hit Cape motorists

That is exactly what they told us a couple of years ago when they doubled car licence fees.
Someone should start a website and give these people stick.
This is ridiculous.
I know this topic has been spoken about before here on MyADSL and it needs to be raised again, as today it is the Western Cape and tomorrow it is the rest of South Africa. Add to this all the Toll Roads.
IMHO the R1.16 per litre, National Fuel Levy, which I think is an understatement without knowing all the facts is already pushing inflation and the man on the streets pocket. SARS has collected more than their budget, but yet continue to increase this levy annually in increments of 5, 10 and 15 cents per litre. Just listen to the budget speech and hear the small amounts that have been added the last few years, which all adds up.
This is bad cycle of money collection and I object on Environmental reasoning.
Point here is .. when a State Organ like the Provincial Government gets it's hands on this sort of tax, they become dependent on it, hence condoning the use of fossil fuels, when for all intense and purposes they should be looking at other sources of energy other than petrol.
When is the world going to find other sources of energy other than fossil fuels?
This tax must never happen.
We must all stand against it.
In the long run it may start as 10 or 20 cents a litre and slowly ease up to 50 cents and then who knows where it will go?
Maybe even become a political football.
We do not need two sections of Government taxing the same commodity.
The man on the street needs to be afforded a chance to make a living without having to work his fingers to the bone paying more taxes to Provincial Governments when we pay enough to National Government who are collecting the Fuel Levy already for this purpose.
Fire the people that thought up this load of bullsh1t.
