I've been taking note the past few months as to which IPs' are "dead" and they all have the following in common.
All the dead IPs' have a 64 in the position shown in the example IP below:

xxx.xx.64.xxx

Now that you have the above info please attend to the problem.

If I'm correct iburst did change the IP range - moving away from the xxx.xxx.64.xxx range both that's just what I've seen so it's not official

I have not ever seen the "new" IP range, and mine has always started with:

196.46.xx.xxx

The only 2 numbers that change are the last pair as above.

Okay, I can confirm it, I just got two 196.46.64.xxx IP's in a row and both were completley dead.

I reconnected and got a .67 IP and it works straight away. All within about 2 minutes.

So is there any way to simply cut these ranges out? Im shure it would be simple enough to have your servers never asign .64 IP's? Then again probably not.. if you could do something about this quickly and it sorts it out I'd be impressed.

Mr H I was talking about the xx part in the third ip address as in xxx.xxx.xx.xxx

Yeah sorry I see that now I misunderstood what you meant, I thought it was a completely new range you were refering to.:o

Thanks for confirming what I found.

Same happened to me about 10min ago as I decided to change IP as the IP I was on since about 12:15am this morning seemed to be slowing down and dying on me.
Got the dreaded 64 twice in a row and then 66 is working now.

I've also noticed that some ranges are faster than others, where if you get a 69 or 70 in that position it is faster than the others.
Try keeping track of which ranges are fast and which not so fast as well as the dead ranges.
It would be nice if someone could explain why certain ranges are faster than others.

I'll keep "bumping" this thread up to the top until we get a response from someone at wbs as I want an answer to this problem that should not exist in the first place.

There is the 64.x.x.x range

No idea I'm talking about the 64 been in the position shown:

xxx.xx.64.xx

I've never seen another range for iBurst besides the 196.46.xx.xx

If I misunderstood what you meant I'm sorry.

You get a 41.xx.xxx.xxx range, but that seems to be mostly in joburg or not on plumbstead at least.

Didnt Shaun reply about this in the other thread and asked for info on it as they wanted to sort it out?

I think it was ED that responded to the "dead" IP problem but as far as I know nothing ever came of it and as you can see it has not been sorted out, they probably hoping it or me would just go away, but this time round I intend keeping this thread alive until I get a response.:p
