No 2G only option with Q10 on Vodacom???

Sometimes I wonder just how dof some of the people are at Vodacom... EVERYONE knows that one way to prolong battery life is to have 3G turned off, surprise surprise, on the Q10 one can't (Not on Vodacom anyhow)??? :twisted:. Just got off the phone with Blackberry support regarding the fact that there is no 2G only option (network mode) for the Q10, and they say its a carrier setting and that I should talk to Vodacom.

Have no idea why Vodacom would not have this option as it really eats battery life having 3G activated permanently?? Having the 2G option only really helps with battery life...PLEASE FIX THIS!!
 
It was in OS 10.0, disabled in 10.1. Having "used" it, I can tell you that unlike on the BB7 devices, 2G is useless; you can't do a damn thing because it's too slow.

Incidentally, I believe the BB10 devices have much more power-efficient 3G.

I spoke to Vodacom yesterday and they explained that there are 2 versions of the Q10 and the Z10, one that supports LTE and one that doesn't, the LTE version cannot run on 2G only and as such does not have this option, the non LTE versions can run only on 2G albeit slow and have this option in Network mode... so at least I know why I don't have the 2G only option.

I don't think that's true. I had the 2G option before going to 10.1. Also, AFAIK, SA does not have the LTE version at all (we have the STL100-1 model).

I also have the Q10 and no 2G only option for me even before update. My version is SQN100-3 with LTE. My battery life also sucks, getting nothing more than 1 day
 
Hi All

Only MTN and Vodacom does not give you the 2G option.The service is disable on the sim not phone.8TA and Cell C gives you the 2G option

The LTE version has been available for the past 2 months in SA on Vodacom
