My wife is due for an upgrade and there is currently nothing on offer she is interested in. So we thought we will upgrade and then sell the device brand new sealed in the box.

She is currently on a Smart M and by taking the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini LTE (i9195), she would stay close to her current monthly payments and then we just sell the handset for about R4.8k

I will use the classifieds later, but first I would like to find out if it is worth while going this route and if anyone is interested in such a deal.

Or if someone would like to do a deal on another phone, make a suggestion.

I've seen s4's going for less than that. So no, I wouldn't be interested in a s4 mini at that price. At 3k, maybe...

So no, I do not think it's worth your while as I don't think you would get that much for the phone. Check on carbonite what the phones are selling for there, to get an idea.

Are those phones also brand new unopened in a sealed box? This is brand new - not secondhand. The person taking it off my hands will be the first one to open the box.

I'm sure we can haggle a bit over the price R4.5 is almost R1.5 less than cost

I've gone this route once, and found that the market didn't quite see the same value as I did in a brand-new vs. a second-hand phone. Ended up selling for a price just slightly higher than 2nd-hand. I'd be interested at around 4k.

just telling you what I do

there is also the added risk of buying from the classifieds, even if its sealed (which doesnt mean anything imo as lots of companies open and reseal packages themselves)
but have a look here, dunno if any of these are legit, but you get the idea

Thanks. I can probably go a bit lower, but I am not sure if those prices are for the LTE version.

But would you be interested if the price is right?

Sounds good. Lemme chat with wifey and come back to you.
