Nice one for you guys...you are in the market for a sub-R470k properly-hot hatch.

Do you pay R469k for a full-house 1yr old M135i

OR

Save R10k & get the way more exclusive Focus RS; not just any Focus RS but a UK import (high spec than local cars) fitted with an official, Ford-approved Mountune MP350
performance package, as fitted to the limited-edition Focus RS500.

Power pumps up to a crazy 258kw & 460nm torque & all going thru the Front Wheels!

The "sensible" man would say the M135i *any day*~ more modern car; great auto box; RWD; resale value etc

But there is always something appealing about a RS-badged Ford & this RS Focus is hot stuff.

I would *gamble* & take the RS...just look at it!

How much maintenance plan left on the Ford?
If I were you I would go for the BMW option.

When it's hypothetical I'm always in favour of the left-field choice, so heart says Ford.
When it's my own money I chicken out and go safe.
World needs people that follow their heart.
(sounds more preachy than it's meant to be!)

RS for sure... exclusivity

or save a bit more and buy an A45 AMG

I can't believe people would buy a BMW 1 series or a Ford in that price range when a decent Jag is available in the same price range.

I I had to choose between those, it would be the BMW, far more fun.

But I agree, that money would see me in something very different.

Nearly half a bar for a 4-yo hot Ford with no warranty or remaining service plan...? And aftermarket mods?

I thought Capetonians were sensible people?

Ford is still a FWD right?

So in that case BMW all the way.

Personally if I was crazy enough to spend that kind of money on that type of car (which I'm not) it would be the A45 AMG though.

In a heartbeat...

...The Delta Motor Corporation of South Africa Opel Monza 160i GSi car of the year 1991

But in all seriousness, I would take the Jag over the previously mentioned two, but if I were forced at gunpoint between the original two I would go for the Focus
