Ok, so we do need a dedicated PSP thread, as we are posting like mad in the 3.10 Firmware thread, which might get confusing. So here is hoping that we'll get this stickied.

To start this thread off, here is a good Custom Firmware guide that I found:

The next step is not recomended as there are many more features that can be done on 3.03 OE-C rather than 1.50, but if you are not happy with 3.03 OE-C and want to downgrade follow the steps below.

Downgrading from CFW 3.03 OE-C to 1.50

5. In the Recovery menu, choose 'Run program at /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP'. This will flash the 1.50 EBOOT to your PSP.
When it has finished shutdown the psp and turn on and your PSP will be a 1.50.

Change Settings in 3.03 OE-C

Turn on your PSP and hold 'R' to access recovery mode.

Configuration:
Skip SCE Logo (Skips the PSP Bootscreen and disables UMD Autorun)
Hide Corrupt Icons (Hides Corrupted Data from showing in the Game Menu)
Game Folder Homebrew (Changes the folder for your homebrew)
Use No-UMD (Allows some games to run without a UMD, although some games do not work with this enbabled)
Fake Region (Change the region of your PSP to play UMD movies from a different region, doesn't always work)
Free UMD Region (Removes the region code on your PSP)

5. You can now run your PSX game on the game menu on your PSP.

NICE, THANKS :) I cant wait to try everything my new baby can do, I just need to wait for the mem stick to arrive...

ok you got the idea, but update that tutorial as its out of date a little.just to the mods can you please put all the posts from the 310 thread into this one please,if its possible

I would recommend using the 2.80 upgrade for any psp's 2.71 and below. It does away with worrying about any TA-082 motherboards. and then downgrade to 1.5, then upgrade directly to 3.03 OE-C

http://www.psp-hacks.com/category/55

everything you will need for upgrading/downgrading (except of course the GTA:LCS game) ;)

I thought the GTA exploit was for getting it back to 2.0, and then to 1.5 from there? Wouldn't it possible to upgrade directly to 3.03OE if your firmware is higher than 2.0? Eliminates the need to pay a fortune for GTA with the v2.0 firmware if your PSP is higher than 2.0.

Yeah, I prefers the upgrade to 3.03 then easydown to 1.50 then easyup to 3.03 OE-C. It's so simple.

@Highflyer:

You can only upgrade to OE Firmware if you are able to run homebrew on your PSP, else it is futile because the OE firmware won't run.

mph downgrader is a old downgrader, that you people probly never new about as i was usin that in 2005.
this downgrader is a pure 2.0 to 1.5( perfect registry downgrade..no reminice of any files in the flash0,just a pure 1.5
take my advice upgrade to 2.0 then downgrade your psp to 1.5 using mph downgrader. It is oldschool but it is for the best
then update to 303oec.

but then you need the GTA:LCS

no its not possible to upgrade straight to 3.03 OE from any other firmware because 3.03 OE is actually half 1.5 and half 3.03. And the OE firmware is written to upgrade from 1.5.

Also, I read somewhere that if you downgrade from 3.03 then down to 1.5 then up to 3.03 OE its fine, but if you go back to 1.5 then to 3.03 you can brick ure PSP.

Now who would do such a silly thing as to go back to legitimite firmwares? :D

Yeah, you need GTA LCS, but once you have it, it is the easiest way to go. I trust the 3.03 a lot, as it is very stable. So far I have done 3x downgrades and upgrades to 3.03 OE-C in this manner, and all 3 of them are very very happy and are playing with their PSP 90% more now.

1 of those 3 is me :D I am now totally addicted to my PSP!

I see in the step by step thread that a new 1.53 Custom Firmware is out... I had a looksee at what it does, and it seems that it has some of the same options as 3.03 OE-C, I think the only extra thing it has which I haven't seen in 3.03 OE-C is the backlight thingy.

Custom firmware 1.53 is built on 1.50’s underlying weaknesses with additional goodies that you see below. Enjoy the simplicity!

Recovery Menu
Boot Menu
Integrated uxMB
You can start 1.00 style EBOOTS
You can hide corrupt data icons
You can start ISO/DAX files
You can load your own plugins(PRX)
Autoboot EBOOTs at startup
Never turn off the backlight in XMB

That would be a battery eater of note. Otherwise, I don't see any real reason for a OE-C'er to downgrade to 1.53 Custom.

I have an ISO, I placed it on my 3.03 OE-C PSP. I put it in the ISO directory. It shows the game, and has the background and everything, and then I choose to play it, it shows me the PSP screen, and then it shows me an error "could not load the game, with some number underneath it" The game is TestDrive.

Any Suggestions? The game is supposed to work under 3.030EB...

Oh and how do I play EBOOTS? In which directory do I place them in (PSX PSP games)
