At R6000 plus for a PS3, will you buy it?

Nah for R6000 it's X360 + Wii for me. Don't see the point of paying twice the price for a machine with the same technical capabilities (bar bluray). Whichever drive wins between HD-DVD and bluray is the drive I'll upgrade my 360 to.
 
I believe it is a bit late for PS3 to make a go of it in SA. If Blu-Ray turns out to be an industry dud, the PS3 is stuffed. 50-50 at the moment for that happening IMO. Linux lovers will love it because you can actually run Linux on it and your PS2 gear should be compatible. At least the AV cables etc.

What do you guys think? Anybody been holding out for one?
 
Well it has Linux, but the 360 makes for a better media centre. Plus Xbox Live is light years ahead of $ony's online network.
 
I'd consider it if I didn't already own a 360.

To me SONY's biggest mistake was waiting this long to release the PS3.

Most of my friends would have waited 6 months to buy the PS3 because we know and love the PS2 but it's been over a year and we didn't want to wait that long.

Neither I nor anyone I know will buy both consoles but then again maybe I don't have enough rich friends :D
 
I voted unsure as i really dont know.I prefer buyin a vw rustbucket and fix up for
carshows,but then again my sister has a xbox360,and gears of war looks cool.
I very much like electronic gadgets,and the if the price is like say 3800rand i will consider a ps3,but for now i will stick with my pc ,brokenps2 and my mod psp.and my..etc..etc..etc
 
Maybe one day if it gets much cheaper. If I wanted to spend that much money now I'd rather get an XBox 360 and a Wii. And I am in no hurry to get either those. I'll look at the PS3 in a few years.

The new Xbox will probably be released in a few years just as the PS3 starts to take off ;)

I'll still be prepared to buy the PS3 if it is cheap. I'm hoping that by the time I'm done with the various games I have bought for the previous generation that the current generation consoles will have dropped in price.
 
A resounding no. I'll buy a Ps3 when they're the same price as the PS2 is now.

I never buy first gen consoles.
 
work out all the flaws first.I must say when i bought a ps2 i paid like 6000 for it.plus the package cost was a whopping 7000 rand,i think that was 1999,but i am much wiser now so no more of that.but if my girl could but get it for me as a birthday present,i will love her for at least another 6 months
 
Still don't get the logic - why pay twice the price for something that's technically identical to a machine half the price. The graphics on the 360 are even slightly better! Only a diehard fanboy would do that.
 
A year ago maybe but sony is way too late out of the gate.
 
yeah at R6000+ per PS3 console.. thats a tuff cookie.

Most people that visit Myadsl have nice Home computers, so if u are into gaming.... R6000 can do quite a bit on your PC. example. DirectX10 Graphics card Geforce 8800GT Costs around R3200 +-, so with the change u can buy some hard-disks :>>>

Anyway thats how i'm thinking... And these new DirectX10 games will look Excellentè on that DX10 graphics card.. vs Ps3 :>>

but to each his own... I know some folk will buy the ps3 for Multi-media purpose/video streaming.. and for the built-in wireless feature... :>>
 
I think that it is overpriced...just a wittle bit. No, I wouldnt buy it, I also wouldnt like to receive it as a gift...would rather waste the money paying debt...or on the PC....LOL
 
It's just to pricey for me.... I can't justify R7000 including 1 game for it.... Not when the competition is just as good and half the price...

Maybe after I get a HDTV I would be more willing but then again I can just buy the HD-DVD add on for the 360 instead?

92.50% of people are saying no on this forum, obviously not a PS3 loving forum :)
