Now this looks good...

"After leaked images of Fiat’s new bakkie surfaced not too long ago, the brand has decided to offer a soft release of their new bakkie, called the Toro.

The Toro seems to attain a lot of styling ques from its Chrysler partnership with its LED lights along the bonnet line and above the headlamps. Fog lights, faux aluminium and chrome accents also give off the impression that this particular Toro is the top of the range model.

The Toro has a claimed carry load of 1 000 kg, while comfortably seating five people. Rumors still suggest that it will be based on the Renegade platform with 4×2 or 4×4 available depending on the choice of engine. These choices consist of either the 1,8-litre 16V E-Torq Flex attached to a six-speed automatic or the 2,0-litre 16V Multijet turbodiesel with the six-speed manual for the 4×2 or the nine-speed automatic transmission for the 4×4 drivetrain.

The base model of the Toro will still be a well equipped utility vehicle with features such as the uConnect infotainment system, GPS navigation and a rear-view camera as standard. Brazilian trim models consist of the Urban, Adrenaline and Country.

With the Country being the Toro’s highest model derivative, it will be equipped with dual-zone automatic climate control system, off-road suspension and Hill Descent Control among other equipment and will only be available with the 2,0-litre turbodiesel engine.

Release dates and pricing are expected to be revealed in the next few weeks."

I'll buy one if they priced right.

But if the built like the 1/2 ton bakkies then I'd pass :D

Expect a massive sales price, like most new Fiat's. Kinda looks like a Amarok had a baby with a new Ranger, and the baby is retarded.

A double cab that can carry 1ton would be great. This bakkie is bigger than I expected. I thought that Fiat was rebadging the Mitsubishi Triton as their 1ton. I expected this backkie to be more half ton sized.

It seems very fancy though. Will they call it a Ram and sell it in the US?

No no...come now ppl....we really need to get over the old folks assumption of certain less favorable brands in the past still being bad in 2015/2016.

Eg. Fiat; Jeep; anything French; Alfa etc

Wrong. Apart from a nifty panel van they've done nothing since the Uno Turbo.

At least those other French and Italian brands have done some nice models.

Fiat is Flat.

Not bad looking.

Just wonder how much space there is in the back - can't really tell from the pictures...

Lovely

No bull! Fiat’s Toro bakkie is headed for SA

"Unique unitary construction

Design highlights are its Cherokee type headlights and vertically split and hinged cargo bay doors, and it’s also the first one-ton bakkie with a unitary construction and fully independent suspension system.

Unlike the ladder chassis and live rear axle systems of its local competitors, such as the Hilux, Ranger, Isuzu KB, VW Amarok, Nissan Navara and Mitsubishi Triton, this should give the Toro good road manners and fuel economy."

/want

Will give it a year or two to see if there are any FIAT problems like with all the other FIATS we've had here before :D

I think the only FIAT that actually made a massive impression and was pretty damn reliable and witty was the Uno Turbo. The rest were just bland and full of issues.

This could be really cool, I hope that it'a priced decently though. The fact that they have a single cab, hopefully means that it won't have 'lifestyle' pricing.

The Strada was the cheapest half ton at one point, and the unibody design could help cut costs on the Toro.

Most of the design comes from the Jeep Renegade on the GM Fiat platform. I hope that the Jeep dna doesn't jack the price up, like with the Fiat 500 XL.
