What are the specs? HDD, CPU, graphics, etc.
I'd say more - even the first Core Duo model would have been an improvement over the Powerbook - that machine was getting really long in the tooth by the time it was replaced.
Ah - excellent point - so halicon is it a 2003 Powerbook or a 2006 Macbook Pro?

I'd say about R1000.
Tack a '0' on the end of that and you'd be closer to the mark if ebay is anything to go by.

If it is a MacBook Pro it is 2 years old.
If it is 2003 then it is a Powerbook and obviously a different matter.
