Hi

Not sure if this is the correct place to post, but thought I would share.

We are a South African family 2 adults and a 4 year old boy, up until 2 weeks ago we lived a comfortable life in Wilderness on the Garden Route.

We sold everything and decided to just travel the world and trade our possessions for experiences, especially for our little guy.

I will update this post if anybody is interested in knowing more, right now we are in Bangkok, Thailand before moving to Phuket, Thailand for a few months.

Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia and the Philippines next on our list before we decide where next.

We are traveling on South African passports, and we are having a blast, we moved our business online and earn $US.

But the Baht is 2.79 to the ZAR 1 and it is cheap.

We did not leave primarily because of crime or corruption, even if my wife's brother in law was shot dead in JHB, we left because long term the poor education is going to catch up and cause untold problems.

Right now it is 6:48pm and we are walking around the train station on our way "home" and feel super safe.

People are friendly and helpful, the place is clean and efficient and cheap, it is hot though

Regards
Us
:)

Life long dream to visit Vietnam and Cambodia
Well if you can settle for settle hand accounts I will keep you updated on our travels, we are waiting for our Panamanian passports so will be in South East Asia for atleast 3 years.

I had to buy a new laptop charger since my plug does not fit anything ended up getting a new charger, oppo A37 mobile and a galaxy 3 notepad for R3000

Sim cards cost 50baht (R18) and then for 199 baht a month I get 5gigs G4 data, free streaming music, 3gigs free streaming video and low cost phoning on network (R72).

Everything just flows it is amazing, 5 more days in Bangkok before we go to Phuket for 2 months.

I am to busy with work to write a blog but if there is enough interest on following our travels I will gladly get the wife to start one :)

On Facebook and Instagram right now and will discuss opening up my accounts lol

Gnight from a fairly warm Bangkok

What business do you have?
3 online teaching sites and then I am busy setting up a export business based in Malaysia.

Easiest way to become location independent is take what you know and teach it to others, yes it is a alien concept for South Africans to grasp, but we are now in the digital age and everybody Knows something that somebody is willing to pay for

Interesting - wish I had the balls to do the same :p

it took us three years to pull the trigger, only regret is we did not do it earlier, I would suggest coming to south east asia for a holiday and then deciding if you wish to return :)

there are so many digitsl hubs where people from all over the world and ages are doing this, once you leave South Africa opportunities open up like crazy.

I have 2 meetings this week with companies here and one from Japan to see if I can set up business with them, everybody wants to work, it is cheaper to spend a month in thailand than to go on holiday to say cape town.

I will keep this updated, we are moving closer to the dodgy side of Bangkok tommorow for 5 days, since it is closer to the water for us to explore, we will look at the good and bad, but right now the bad ... we have not found it yet.

we have 2 rules

1. Eat local while traveling, so no western food if possable.
2. Never stay in one place long enough to become involved or familiar whith the politics.

I will post a few photos tommorow to help you decide.

p.s when we arrived the reception apologised since they 0nly have 50mb line availoable for the free wi-fi lol i had to laugh, since they had no idea what we struggled with in South Africa.

Looking forward to the updates.

We were meant to be in Thailand this April for three weeks - but renovations at home got expensive (and still haven't started )

Bangkok never sleeps, since it is so hot we leave the hotel around 2pm and get home around 10pm

We are moving to a different hotel today, so will post more photos of where we where and where we going.

Food costs per day for the three of us is on average R200 - R300

The malls are insane, I am bad with taking photos since I am usually exploring with our boy but you can buy anything from fried bugs to high end labels within meters from each other.

I will post when I remember and get time, but feel free to ask questions and I will answer them.

The streets are super clean, traffic is insane and if it has wheels it is used as a taxi, from mopeds to limos there is organized chaos 24/7

It is very hot and humid, but there are giant fans outside everywhere and aircon in buildings.

8am right now so I am getting ready for a meeting with a giant textile manufacturer, breakfast buffet at hotel costs 115 baht (R41)

Cheers
