[some of the prices may differ in few rands from isp to isp on the bussiness and express]

having done a quick compare to choose one of the lesser evils of the 512k uncapped available.

router accessible, lowest price, highest most of the times, torrents/p2p and news groups - 512k express seems like the best option here.

router accessible, lowest price, highest most of the times, torrents/p2p, news groups and low latency - ODS fiber Plus

interisting to note here is sol's entry product which is via SAIX - but as i have noted here there aren't really set rules on it its mostly determined by the Uncapped Fair Usage Policy and daily usage of the pooled saix cap from users sharing it.

seems yes.

as its laid out here one can see there is no uncapped solution out there without some sort of limitation on it.

The contention ratio strikes me as the lesser of the evils. Having been on ISDN for 2 years, I merely want something *at least as* fast, uncapped, and low latency. This (specifically, the 384k variant) could be the country's first such recent offering for under R1500 since the "glory days" (lol), if I'm not mistaken.

Necuno, do you have any idea if the DSL routers that Telkom supply with their self-install support L2TP? Or am I better of just getting the router through ODS?

I'm completely new to DSL, no line, no router, so looking at the best way to get into it via ODS's uncapped 384.

not what models telkom do thesedays :/

router that ods gives with is a billion or cisco, last time i spoke with IS they said its a billion.

Thinking of getting the R 627 option with ODS but the speed is only 192k. Anybody have any experience with this speed? How is it?

speeds should be 20KBps....

and 10 on torrents/p2p or less during work hours.

does that one even have a threshold: 2.5 G in 10 days then half speeds - lol

Wait a mo, didn't XDSL have the option of adjusting the split to, say, 75% international 25% local? Is that option no longer available? I don't see it mentioned anywhere on their page. Or did I just imagine the whole thing...

The option is available. Increments of 64k.

And the fees aren't greater?

it is more expensive, why i have ranged in that way - its exact price specific.

if xdsl 512k fiber is increased to 50int/50local trust me its not going to fit in under 2k any more

Hm. So not viable really. I guess ODS makes the most sense then.

Hi necuno
