Typical liberal rag cr@p. Who gives a flying fck what race the players are.
 
They should have got someone who lives in South Africa to write this rather than some bitter ex pat.

Actually, just as important is that they look like a South african team. Right now they look too much like "apartheid at play".:sick:

So even if it's white South Africans in the team, it doesn't really count as a South African team?

Then the only solution in a democratic country, is to hold open tryouts, in front of a panel of international rugby judges, and let them pick the best of all that show.
Irrespective of race, creed or culture, you play the best players to build a winning team.
Most supporters dont give a rats @ss about who plays , as long as its a winning team.
Leave politics out of sports. :mad:
 
What would constitute a South African team?

The Namibian rugby team looked pretty white to me and Zim cricket team usually looks heavily loaded with whites...?

That was 15 years ago mate. You obviously know nothing about rugby or the way the selection is carried out. You also seem oblivious to the current pressure to select players of color as well as the vast amounts of money that are spent to develop previously disadvantaged rugby players

I beg to differ. This person's sentiments pretty much capture the feeling of most people in the world concerning South african rugby, whether they follow the game or not. I read somewhere that Cricket was now the second most supported game in the country (Behind football), so looking at the numbers, rugby will soon find its existance jeorpadised by racist selectors who refuse to transform, especially at provincial and development level. Which is where this whole transformation thing should start.

So you're basically saying there's no more place for white rugby players in South Africa? Even if they're the best the country's got to offer?

No I think this person's sentiments pretty much only capture the feelings of people with huge chips on their shoulder regarding race (the minority of people in the world and probably also SA for that matter)

No, but i do have a problem with a team that claims to represent me, when when the whole world clearly sees otherwise. I mean as soon as that so called "South african team" comes onto the pitch, i get an uncomfortable feeling:mad:...... Like something isn't right about it, and this article has captured those feelings pretty well i think. I believe 90% of the people in the country would agree with the author.
