Hi

When I connect to the internet with:

sainet I get an ip of :41.240.79.xxx
webafrica I get an ip of :41.240.87.xxx
They are both SAIX which is why thet are pretty similar....

My confusion is when I check my ip on www.tribalwars.co.za....it shows an ip of 196.25.255.*** with both ISP accounts

Does SAIX use some sort of proxy or something??? tribalwars is a browser-based game tho

thanks

Yea they do use a proxy. headstrong, meet the notorious transparent cache proxy.
Notorious transparent cache proxy meet, headstrong.

Yes, they do.

You can give yourself a static IP for foreign servers by using a proxy like cache.saix.co.za:8080. Otherwise it tends to change, and so you IP will change from an int's point of view, and so sometimes problems can arise.

cache.saix.co.za:8080 is needed for some overseas member sites.

I use cache.saix.co.za:8080 in Firefox, and nothing in IE.

Sometimes I have noticed that cache.saix.co.za:8080 is slow as well, hence the 2 options I have... IE/FF!

Although the proxy server can sometimes help speed up browsing I'm generally hesitant to use it on sites where you have to provide username/password and since I visit so many sites where I have to log in, it makes using a proxy irrelevant (due to security reasons).
I mean, what if they store the password, will we ever know?
