I'm already capped! According to the usage tracker I've used nearly 11GB which is impossible (I'm on a 384).

I was capped last month but somehow I was able to connect again towards the end. Now it looks like all that free bandwith ended up in December.

Great

Did you disconnect before midnight on the last day of the month?

If not then that sessions usage probably got carried over to December.

No I didn't disconnect.

I noticed that I was connected for about 4 days without a disconnect. So all my downloads for the last 4 days are now counted towards December. Just great!

Are they allowed to do that?

iBurst has the same problem with their capping system, it seems it only works on sessions and not date/time, this is why most iBursters disconnect before midnight and I do it out of habit from my iBurst days with ADSL.

It did happen to me once with ADSL (telkom) and then after a few days corrected itself.

As for if they are allowed to do it, well quite frankly I don't think they know how to sort out the problem with the bandwidth monitor.

I found that the best way to avoid this problem is to disconnect before midnight on the last day and then reconnect around 10 minutes after midnight.

Thats Telkom  nothing much you can do realy cept not pay?

Yaaa, I'm capped too, the saix site says that if a session starts on the last day of a month and carries over to the first day of the next month, some of the usage will be displayed for the next month but will not be counted towards calculatng the cap. What counts is "when" the session began.

but alas , i am capped for Dec

BTW: how much did u download for November before getting capped?

hehehe i was talking to the missus last night and saw the time was 23h55 and i said excuse me and ran to my router to switch it off. bad habits from iburst i suppose.

Thats the one good thing I picked up from iBurst............always disconnect before midnight on the last day.:D

I deliberately did not disconnect. Finishing a local download (about 120 MB) after midnight did not count toward my blended cap in December. I now have 13 MB blended.

You were already capped on the 27th of November and only had local after that according to one of your posts, whereas a lot of us were not capped and had downloaded way past the limit, these are the people that would have a problem if they did not end the session before midnight.

The other way around that problem if the session had downloaded plenty GB is to disconnect and reconnect again and not download too much with the new session before midnight on the last day.

MrH, yes I agree with you.
I normally end the session before midnight. Just wanted to see what happens if I let it run, on local only, for a few hours into the new month.

Are you saying, that if you are not capped and disconnect after midnight, the whole session counts towards the new month?

My bandwidth is going rather quickly, my usage has already reached 300MB but I only surfed a little yesterday, haven't downloaded anything and this is a 1gig account

According to the Telkomsa usage tracker I'v used 10gb local traffic and 7mb international for this month. I am still able to browse internationally, which must mean that local traffic doesn't count towards the cap?

It shows mine as blended, so it's different for some people.

Not all counts towards the new month but this varies and does not seem to follow a definite pattern, but most the time if you have downloaded before the end of the month and do not disconnect and keep that session active into the new month you will most probably lose a fair bit of the new months bandwidth.

This happens a lot with iBurst and I've also notice it happen with telkom's ADSL, so to be on the safe side I rather close the session before midnight.

WOW

I'm not capped for Dec anymore, and everything is Zero. Even for all the previous months on the telkom usage tracker!!!
