Hey @Afrigirl. I’m on Air Mobile with my iPhone 15 and eSIM. My cell connection goes to 3G pretty much all the time when I’m in a building (at work in Bryanston and at home in Illovo). But I know there is LTE/5G available in the work building because colleagues on MTN are on LTE/5G. To get it...
I've tried searching the forum but couldn't find the answer. Can anyone tell me the story with Discovery Bank's foreign transaction fees are when you swipe with the credit card?
- I see they say it is a 3% conversion fee when swiping non-ZAR
- Then there is a 2% fee when swiping in ZAR to a...
Thank you! I did need to take the leap of faith and delete the eSIM from my old phone, then re-add to my new phone. I did not need a new activation code, which was nice - the same one worked.
When I tried to scan the QR code with the iPhone 15, I got a generic error “could not activate eSIM...
@AfriNatic @Afrigirl I've just purchased a new iPhone 15 but having difficulty transferring my AirMobile eSIM from my old iPhone 13 to my new iPhone 15.
I have tried scanning the QR code on the new iPhone while the eSIM is active in the old one. This failed. Then I tried turning off the eSIM in...
10GB via afrihost + 380 all net mins (voice bundle purchased via the MTN app) = R300. Not quite as good as superflex but you can’t port to superflex so quite a good option!
I also noticed this. The rate is now R1.50/min is seems.
I was on the MTN Talk Free plan. Months ago, the MTN Talk Free rate was changed to be R1.20/min to all networks with no warning whatsoever (previously was R0.99/min). I phoned afrihost to tell them that the website was showing the wrong...
iPhone 13 and later allows you to have 2 eSIMs active. Anything before the 13 has to be one physical SIM and one eSIM (I.E. cannot be two eSIMs simultaneously on iPhone 12 or earlier)
Anyone else get a notification that WiFi calling is available on MTN for an iPhone today/recently?
I did and went into settings, lo and behold the WiFi calling option is finally there!
I have no trouble with my notifications at the moment. Although push notifications only work for cheque accounts - credit cards can only receive SMS notifications at this point. Sadly.
After days of fiddling and driving around JHB to get 5G signal to no avail, I randomly inserted an active Vodacom SIM card into my phone, let it set up, then took it out and put my MTN SIM back into the phone and presto! 5G connected! Very stoked.
Too scared to do a Speedtest though because it...
No luck with this where I currently stay. But to be sure it isn’t my area I will force it on and see what happens when I move around JHB this week.
The most important thing is knowing that it is possible on Afrihost mobile.
Settings > mobile data > mobile data options > Voice & Data gives me this. Seems that I do have the 5G option (even if I force 5G to be on, I still don’t connect)
