Which lockdown restrictions should be lifted?

Alcohol and ciggies (even though I'm not a smoker - the ban was frigging stupid. If smokers want to smoke, so be it) Restaurants should at least be able to do take-aways - the lockdown has hurt the food industry hard. Online shopping should be completely unrestricted, so long as those involved...

Vodacom Data bundles still R149 per 1GB

FNB was still charging R149 when I looked yesterday. They're a bit slow, it seems. Not sure if they have corrected it yet.

The Gauteng Weather and Storm Warning Thread!

We've got now in Walkerville. Preceded by the usual insane wind. But so far, thankfully, it's not one of the mini "dump one month's rainfall in 2 minutes" cloudbursts that we have been having of late. That you can keep.

Vodacom dropping data prices from April

I came here to ask same thing. We were told contracts would also get the reduction, but I checked this morning and my package is exactly the same... Have posted two queries on their Facebook page, no replies...

No network for 6 hours a day

We have the exact same problem - I'm near Walkerville in JHB South and when the power goes off, that's it with the signal, goes completely dead. To make matters worse, Eskom is also doing this unofficial thing called 'loss reduction', which affects Walkerville and towns south of it - they turn...

Vodacom dropping data prices from April

https://ewn.co.za/2020/03/10/vodacom-to-reduce-data-prices-by-30-as-of-april-competition-commission How will this affect those of us with contracts!? Do we get allocated extra data each month, or do our monthly charges get reduced?

Cell C internet connectivity during loadshedding

It's a common problem. Strangely enough I get it with Vodacom in my area, but Cell C used to stay up - so at least I had some way of contacting the outside world. When we get load shed, Vodacom loses both voice as well as data - so my cellphone as well as router become useless bricks until power...

    CellC cancellation

I finally seem to have got it sorted. Final debit order goes off next month, but I'm going to get the bank to put a block on it just in case after it's gone through. Process went smoother than I expected - they didn't even argue that I was cancelling so early. Maybe they've decided that the way...

What you are not told about Vodacom and MTN's mobile data

It's not always that simple. Where I am the lte signal is limited to pretty much mtn and Vodacom - so where is the freedom of choice? I've been with cell C but cancelling in new year because of bad signal. Vodacom and mtn are the only other two I can choose from.

Cell C Dropping "Fixed" LTE - What are the alternatives?

Please do, I'd be interested to know. I checked the MTN website and it shows full lte signal, so maybe Cell C was only using a specific tower near to us, which was overloaded. I just don't want to sign up for a new contract and find I have the same issues all over again...

Cell C Dropping "Fixed" LTE - What are the alternatives?

That's interesting. Based on my experiences with Cell C I'd expected MTN to not be worth looking at. I'd been looking at Vodacom based on the fact that my phone shows 4G...although having said that, the signal does disappear into a void if I move to the South side of the cottage. I'm on the...

Cell C Dropping "Fixed" LTE - What are the alternatives?

Following this thread with interest. I'm based just north of Walkerville in Jhb South. Cell C LTE has just got worse and worse this year. Was looking at Telkom but its LTE coverage shows nothing where I am. Cell C uses MTN towers, so based on my Cell C experience I'm assuming MTN is out of the...
