You are not getting that speed on Fixed MTN LTE. You can't even get carrier aggregation on Fixed MTN LTE anymore. Maybe on 5G now or LTE a year ago you got those speeds before MTN starting started their own throttling.
Disclaimer: I hope people are looking at the thread title and not confuse it...
This looks like the regular MTN throttling, no? We pay Afrihost over R600 for 100mbit, barely see 50mbit, then at 250GB locked to 20mbit. Cancelling soon and trying Cool Ideas with the R750 for a 5G router deal. Even when not downloading anything, we get ping spikes of over 3000MS and even...
It happens. I ignored the comments. I got Rain 5G and it was the best 2 year internet experience I've ever had. Always got the max speed (up AND down) at all times of the day and excellent international latency. At the time (2022) it was not only the cheapest 5G, but there was zero FUP. The...
Same I haven't seen more than 30mbit on that package since August 2025. Also around the time when carrier aggregation got "switched off". I'm throttled to 10-20mbit most of the time. The only thing almost redeeming this package is you have 10mbit between 500GB and 1TB. Feels like MTN is trying...
Yeah you signed up at the worst time. MTN is by far the worst to get for 4G right now because of their insane throttle policy.
We use to take it super slow using about 10-15Gb day between 4 people with 720p streaming with a 500GB FUP. Once we were near end of month, I'd grab a game or two off...
I know someone who got the same message. It's actually hilarious. I think the message said something like "I accidentally sent you my pin, can you please send it back to me?". You'd have to be extremely new to tech to fall for this. The messages came from one of her contacts she regularly...
Yeah that will always remain a big issue with wired. There are far more areas and ways it can go wrong compared to wireless. At any given moment there are hundreds of areas where Fibre is down. It's a 24/7 maintenance job.
