    Home Automation - Smartkit

@xrapidx ahhh really nice! Thankfully the times are the same for each month, so you could simply change all the times to recurring monthly as well saving you time from reloading it in a year's time. How did you do the countdown? Also, your sensor reads "Stage 2" instead of "2 Stage" if one...

    Home Automation - Smartkit

@xrapidx, It was a lot quicker just entering all the times into a Google calendar as they are the same each month and setting each time to recur monthly. Also, I named each time depending on if it was Stage 1, 2 or 3 and if it is stage 1, I'd name it Stage 1,2,3. If the time applied to Stage...

All I did was create a Google calendar and added the stage 1-3 times on it for our area. Now HA turns off lights, etc and shuts down before the power goes out. Works lekker.

It is only $5 a month which I believe is money well spent. Besides the no effort approach to having Alexa work without any config, access HA without punching a hole in my firewall, it goes towards the salaries of Paulus, Pascal, Frank and Bram who virtually run the development effort. Perhaps...

Damn!!! Btw you can still get the USB Hub from QS. Just ask for it. I got confirmation of this a few days ago from them. IMO, for lighting QS is the best affordable option at present. Works very well with Home Assistant plus the dimmable relays work very well too. I often wonder why many have...

    Home Automation - QwikSwitch

Hi folks, Sorry for the delay, but I've been in touch with Qwikswitch and the good news is that the USB Hub is still available, but you'll need to get in touch with them to request it. I would suggest that you contact Ivan. His e-mail address is ivan (at) quickswitch.co.za. I've just recently...

WiFi hotspot with controlled internet access

Interesting, so what I should do is find a router with a WAN port, plug it into the actual router and voila! I should have net access?

WiFi hotspot with controlled internet access

Hi folks, Trying to explain what I need in a short title was just nearly impossible, but this is what I need to do. At our family holiday home, our internet is served using a fixed LTE connection. This basically consists of the standard Huawei router which I'll refer to as the main router...

eHomeAffairs - getting it to work for you

I've now attempted to apply for my son's passport via eHomeAffairs, but after entering his birth date and ID number, I was presented with the second step where I am supposed to complete a form, but instead, there is no form. Just a bunch of buttons (Cancel, Edit, Next, Print, Download PDF...

Where can I find a gooseneck mount in SA?

Thanks for the suggestion. The camera is an ESP32 CAM housed in a 3D printed enclosure, so no camera mount or anything like that hence why I need a clamp on the one end to clamp the housing in - or a flat plate that I can stick it to with good double-sided tape. The problem with this device...

Where can I find a gooseneck mount in SA?

Hi folks, I'm looking for a gooseneck tube with a clamp on the one end and wall mount plate on the other. I plan to mount it on the wall and install a little camera into the clamp to point at my prepaid elec meter so that I can view the LCD display remotely. I found a company based in the USA...

    Home Automation - Smartkit

Hi folks, I haven't seem much discussion on LED strips in this thread. I am looking at installing an LED strip right around the inside of my thatch braai area - this is around 18m. I've picked the SK6812 RGBW (warm white) as the strip of choice. The plan is to connect a few 5m rolls together...

Do you know what sort of light switch one could use that would allow you to dim via the switch? Looks very interesting though. I use Qwikswitch as it allows me to dim via the wall plate or via HA.
