It was a clean install. I think the slow laptop came from two main causes, One is Oracle Virtualbox and two, a very warm Gauteng December. yep, they want me to send it to Rectron. It's out of warranty as well, so it's now in the hands of a chap who can reprogram the EEPROM. I'm still keen on finding a softer solution than brandishing a soldering iron at the mobo. Thanks Nelis, I'm grasping at straws maybe but Yandex is not too...- Lyzyrd
