Hi folks,
My hardware is an Asus Vivobook x543ua, i5, 8gb ram, 1TB HDD. OS is windows 11 home. No real software issues other than a win 11 update which slowed the computer down, so I invoked the rollback feature, no issues. What I DID do, was hop into the UEFI EZ Mode to disable the administrator password and made it blank, F10 to save and exit and bang! Enter password. pressed enter because hey, I made it blank. Invalid password. I've tried Alt+ r to get to the recovery password, de nada, no other methods work on this laptop which is sans CMOS battery. Does anyone know how to get this paperweight active again? Yes, I tried my old password and also ALAA**** which also didn't work. I'm about to Hari Kiri.

You have to contact asus support
yep, they want me to send it to Rectron. It's out of warranty as well, so it's now in the hands of a chap who can reprogram the EEPROM. I'm still keen on finding a softer solution than brandishing a soldering iron at the mobo.
Thanks Nelis, I'm grasping at straws maybe but Yandex is not too shabby and the fixes aren't taken down by Asus in that realm. I find Asus snotty reply to me to be outright crookery. I didn't spend just 5c on the laptop either. I've been a faithful Rectron client for donkeys years. I'm seriously unimpressed by the new trend of selfishness. it's not the ethos of IT. I accepted, naively as it turns out, my role in the laptops demise, until I discovered I'm one of thousands of users caught by the same issue. It's clearly a system fault and it's weird they won't provide a fix. It's soured me as a client and am looking at other brands for my next purchase.

Should've done a clean Windows 11 install. Windows 11 removed more bloat so it’s actually faster than 10.
It was a clean install. I think the slow laptop came from two main causes, One is Oracle Virtualbox and two, a very warm Gauteng December. The UEFI issue is probably going to result in consigning the laptop to spares use only by the looks of things. I'm learning Russian in the process of a continued search for a viable solution. Anyone here have an EEPROM re-programmer?

By noonísh tom orrow, I will know if I have solved this koppie Krapper. I will post the legitimate process here.
