Consumer and business fibre speeds tested — with interesting results

I could be wrong, but my initial reaction to this is, shouldn't you at least be be comparing with as few different variables a possible? So, same FNO, ISP and location and then see the difference between business and private.

No, VW Polo drivers aren't South Africa's worst

Surely it would be more accurate to include km driven per vehicle type? e.g. If taxis drive double the distance to BMWs, then their rate of speeding tickets doesn't look as bad

Sectional Title - 1 Trustee Left

Sometimes it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission

Sectional Title - 1 Trustee Left

The remaining trustee can appoint another trustee. Trustees don't need to be members of the BC (i.e. unit owners), but I think it's better if they were, especially in a situation like this. You need a minimum of two trustees to have a quorum. Once you have two trustees spend a little money and...

    Router Battery Backup

A friend of mine sent me a link to some Cape Town guys who put together this thing: https://arionpower.co.za/product/wibox/ One can specify voltages for router and ONT. Of course it's not a free DIY solution.

    Router Battery Backup

Thanks. I didn't realise that. I'd assumed the whole circuit was stepped.

    Router Battery Backup

Is there a workaround if the ONT needs 12V and the router only 9V? Edit: I'm guessing the off the shelf mini UPS's manage this somehow, although it isn't clear from what I've read of the blurbs

    Sage VIP payroll: COBOL?

I don't know if this is a bad thing, but I managed to crash a Sage VIP payroll demo twice and the error message referred to COBOL: Index out of bounds, upper bound = 12, index = 0 COBOL error at 162743 in VIPPAY22 ... etc I don't know anything about programming, but I really thought COBOL was a...

Any thoughts on which accounting package has the most user-friendly invoicing on a smartphone? I gave QB a try and the app seemed ok, although their online accounting leaves a lot to be desired. Sage seems very slow on the android app (unless my internet has just gone for a loop), but the online...

    Sole-proprietor: home office tax claim

The CGT issue is there whether or not you claim home office deductions. If a portion of your property is used exclusively for running a business that proportion reduces the residential exclusion on the CGT side. However, if you don't own your own home and are renting then you don't need to worry...
