Your example should work out like this (duties as per SARS tariff book (https://www.sars.gov.za/legal-lprim-ce-sch1p1chpt1-to-99-schedule-no-1-part-1-chapters-1-to-99/):
Jacket (assuming cotton or wool) - Tariff code 6103.3 - 45% duty - R145
Earphones - Tariff code 8518.30 - 0% duty - R200

It's Sasol Gas's pipeline from the Pande and Temane gas fields near Vilankulos to Secunda.

In 2019 the IEC recorded 17.4m votes out of the voting registered population of 26.8m, i.e. 66% turnout. Per StatsSA the population of SA has increased by around 11.5% (62.0m / 55.6m) from 2016 up to 2022.
Simplifying, let's assumed that the registered population increased by 11.5% to 29.9m...
Apologies about the long post.
I'm looking for some input from other forumites. I live in a complex with around 50 flats in Johannesburg - we are not on the City Power grid but rather get power directly from Eskom. We have one meter that gets read by Eskom for which we get billed monthly. Each...
To add to @BuckRogers comment - it's a common misconception that trustees are not involved in RA contracts. However, all RA contracts will fall under a registered retirement fund, for Coronation RAs that is the Coronation Retirement Annuity Fund (FSCA registration no 37654).
This retirement...
The power of the heat generated which is quoted in MWt.
This thermal power is then used to generate steam which is used to power a turbine which is used to power a generator. None of these transmissions is near 100% efficient so the electric power generated is always lower than the thermal...
If the house icon is not showing you probably have "Limit to Load Only" ticked in the "System 2" screen under System in the settings. That means excess solar will not be used to power non-essentials but only "Load" which is your essentials.
They've implicitly admitted it by saying that the best EAF they can get to is around 66% by 2025 - currently it is around 56% - 60% which means around 18GW is currently constantly out from either planned outages or breakdowns if we assume 40GW total coal capacity. Best case they're looking at...
Do what TheChamp suggested and, if you are on Twitter, take a video of the sparking transformer and tweet to @CityTshwane along with your reference numbers. Burning / sparking things usually gets somebody's attention.
Even if you do not really want to be on Twitter it's nice to have an account...
Amabhungane did a couple of good articles on Eskom which includes references to Koko's period:

Even if you have no old farts it is basically impossible to lease solar in sectional titles if you want to go 100% by the book - which you have to because of the 5% of people who will use anything not fully legal against you.
Giving away common property such as roofs for solar require 100% of...
It's from a supposed RAND Corporation report - however, it can only be found on the kookier sides of the web, e.g. https://vk.com/@petri.krohn-rand-weakening-germany-strengthening-the-us
RAND itself has said that it is fake: https://www.rand.org/news/press/2022/09/14.html
@dlk001 It sounds like this is an area that you have expertise in and I was wondering if you have any idea of the validity of the following comment on Daily Maverick (main article here)
Do you know if it is true that the fine residue tailings dams have always been (and are still) regulated by...
Eskom have said that, best case, they can try to get to an Energy Available Factor of 70% on the older coal-fired plants - total installed coal-fired capacity is around 38GW and if we exclude the parts of Medupi and Kusile that are commercially producing the older plants would total around 31GW...
Here's a copy of the post I made in the other thread:
It doesn't sound like Molefe has paid back anything yet. The court order has a list of things that need to be done and it looks like they are only at the first step where the EPPF refunds Eskom:
Step 3 will be the first one where Molefe has...
