    I don't know for sure that the phone lines do go down, but I can only assume that is what it happening?

    The flat I am renting still has an ASDL router. I bought a UPS so I could still work even when the power goes out, however even with the router plugged into the UPS, as soon as the power goes out it says there no internet connection. My knowledge about internet and ethernet, etc is zero to none...
