Just had a quick read through this thread again. Haven't followed it much lately. I have been battling with Webafrica (once again) to get my Vumatel line speed upgrade. On Webafrica portal etc it shows my account is 20/5 (i used to have a 10/1mb). With the free speed upgrade my package was...
O gees.. Thats not much of a self install... They only have Vumatel as a provider.. Vodacom said they would do a free install but when it came to the crunch, pulled the plug and said they would bill p/m past the 30 meters. After they had come there previously and saw the length of the driveway...
I see VOX has a self install option. Does anybody know what this is all about? The reason I am asking is that a family member is wanting fibre. From the street to his house is around 75 meteres. Now working on the cost P/M after your free 30m, it can get fairly pricey. So we are happy to run the...
Hi Guys
I am currently with Webafrica, which are shocking and will not be using them again. So I am looking for a new provider, it will be a new installation at my new house. I also know with Webafrica they where doing carrier grade nat (think thats what it was called). Now that is a problem as...
If I remember correctly, check the back of the Mikrotik router.. It supports 12v to 24v.. Get yourself one of the sherlo backup power supplys, then add a 12v 7ah batter to it (outputs 12v).. I did that about a week ago. Havent tested yet but should keep it up for 3 hours. U can always add...
It will run a MS SQL database, with around 5 RDP users at a time. So dont think will require that high a spec machine. It is just basic processing of accounting information. So possible 6 CPU, 32GB memory and around 300GB of storage.. As a minimum..
Hi Guys
I have a friend looking to host a server in the cloud, they will be using it for their accounting package, will require Windows 2019 Server and allowed RDP sessions. I have looked at 1 Grid etc. But just want to know if anybody can recommend a provider they use and have had good support...
Well I am still without Fibre.. A ticket has been logged with Vumatel now on Monday night when I got hold of them. Had one of their Agents phone me on Monday afternoon. But needed photos of my serial device on my ONT device. Which unfortuantly I was at work, so didnt have it on me. So lets see...
Yaa it is shocking.. I also been with them for 10+ years.. Then also wake up to no internet. After contacting them and after the 3rd or 4th time, I also managed to get hold of a person who could tell me whats wrong. My line with Vumatel had also been cancelled. I have had no internet since the...
I feel your pain.. I have not had fibre for over a week and cannot get hold of these guys (15+ chats later). My line has been terminated by Vumatel for some odd reason. Probably due to Webafrica not paying them or something. Cos they clearly lost the plot and cannot even manage that. Every time...
I would also like to know if testing is possible. Although it seems my line has been terminated with Vuma. So no matter what ISP i used it would still be a problem. I have also been with WA for about 20 years and the same with 1-Grid (when they where still one company). 1-Grid support also has...
So just an update.. Still battling with Webafrica. Sent @WebAfrica Helper a DM and has no responded yet. Contacted them every day again and still waiting to get a transfer through to the Operations team. Apparently the line was cancelled on Vumatel's side and needs to be reactivated. What an...
Yip got one of their routers, which is a piece of rubbish. Used my own router. They can happily take it back. I am sure that is the only department of theirs that works well. With the usless service, am sure they must have more cancellations than installations.
Well if they dont fix it, not going to have internet access anyways. So better off just paying it and moving to a provider who can actually give me internet access. I cant wait till April to have internet again. I dont know what other avenue to go with these okes because you can only chat to...
