I see VOX has a self install option. Does anybody know what this is all about? The reason I am asking is that a family member is wanting fibre. From the street to his house is around 75 meteres. Now working on the cost P/M after your free 30m, it can get fairly pricey. So we are happy to run the conduit and pull the cable etc. We basically just need the ONT device from the ISP and for them to activate the service. Do any providers do this? I am hoping that's what the VOX self install is?

Self install is more about plugging in the router etc, it's not installing the fibre and ONT.

I dont think there is anyway to avoid that part, who is the fibre provider?

O gees.. Thats not much of a self install... They only have Vumatel as a provider.. Vodacom said they would do a free install but when it came to the crunch, pulled the plug and said they would bill p/m past the 30 meters. After they had come there previously and saw the length of the driveway and said would do the install for free. We are happy to lay the conduit and I can even organise a fibre cable to pull from the street into the house. Basically all they would need to do is plug in the ONT device and plug it into the box in the street. Not sure of any other work arounds here..
