Is there an IPCC around here for MTN ?
Have a vanilla 3G with OS 3.0. Apparently it'll help in retaining my settings. Manually entering MMS always overwrites/disables my Tethering.
Well seems adding the MMS settings manually after installing the Tethering config will eventually disable Tethering.
Manually editing settings that effect the config seem to disable it.
Need to find a way to include MMS settings in the .mobileconfig.
So for now, it's one or the other.
Just a headsup on the iPhone Configuration Utility. It replaces the Mobile Devices Framework in OSX. I can now not sync with iTunes or charge my phone on my MacBook Pro. Apparently installing the OS 3.0 SDK fixes it. Hoping to figure out another way!
I've uploaded the .mobileconfig files to Rapidshare. Just email the file to your iPhone & Install. Add the MMS settings manually after installing the configuration.
iPhone Tethering & MMS.zip
Cool so I now have MMS & Tethering working by first installing a slightly modified .mobileconfig file and then adding the MMS details.
Works like a charm and no IPCC or whatever hacks required.
I'll see if I can find a place to host the .mobileconfig file. I could put it on my MobileMe iDisk...
I'm not sure what the IPCC files are and how to set them up. Never Jailbroken or intend to either as I've mentioned.
Anyway I got MTN MMS working, it didn't seem to work yesterday, it wouldn't keep the settings either, but it is now after playing with .mobileconfig's.
I've done some...
Sigh. Helpful comment.
Your data settings on page one aren't very straight forward.
I think I read on Gizmodo that there was a Tether toggle. HENCE the question.
I'm on MTN, under Settings/General/Network/Cellular Data Network I have fields for APN/Username/Password and MMS settings fields which are blank.
By completing these would it possibly work ?
Okay I installed it and it works perfectly, no issues at all.
So let me get this straight.
1. I install/restore to OS 3.0 GM. *Done*
2. I restore from backup. ( My last backup would be of the GM after syncing )
3. Edit the connection settings.
Will I then have tethering ? I don't care...
I have an iPhone 3G bought from Vodacom. I use it with an MTN SIM though.
I've never jailbroken it - Have the 3.0 GM but haven't installed it.
Anything I should worry about ?
