Wootware won't replace my motherboard because of bent pins

The problem with Amazon is that they're in the US. So you have to send the item back. Do they arrange courier?
In that case OK but your replacement will also likely attract another customs' duty/tax fee. I don't know if Amazon declare it as a replacement item for a faulty item but SARS may be greedy and charge for replacement items too.

Amazon pay if its in their return period - I ordered a suspension kit last year, arrived with mismatched shocks - Amazon sent me a prepaid label and I dropped it off at DHL. (they first sent a replacement, and told me to only send the kit back after I receive the replacement).

THEN - customs rejected the export for some reason - and DHL delivered it back to me, contacted Amazon and they told me to keep both kits - and refunded me a portion as well.

In the end- I ended up with a free suspension kit.

Wootware has never given me an issue with returns. Albeit I only returned one item.

Generally when I receive an item be it from Wootware, Takelot .etc The first thing I do is inspect the item from top to bottom. I would assume everybody does that. If there is an issue I will log a replacement immediately.

I think the issue with OP is he didnt inspect it and took a long time to return the item. I would also be sus if I was Wootware.

Motherboards with LGA sockets are probably a special case, the suppliers are super strict with returns because of bent pins and if Wootware took this back it's highly unlikely they would be able to return it to the supplier and they would sit with the cost burden.

Hi

Looking for advice

I ordered an ASUS PRIME B650M-A WIFI AMD B650 Ryzen Socket AM5 Micro-ATX Desktop Motherboard from wootware along with a new gfx card CPU and ram.

from the start:

1. Blue screens constantly

2. The graphics drivers will uninstall and crash

3. I updated the bios, and still experienced constant blue screens and graphic driver crashes

4. Games will constantly crash

5. Did fresh windows 11 install still bluescreens and graphic drivers still crashed and games still crashed?

6. I Tried another fresh install, and bios did not pick up any hard drives.

I contacted them and returned the items for testing. Yesterday I received an email back that 2 of the CPU pins are bent and that it voids the warranty.

Now, it is not rocket science to install a CPU and I'm normally super careful because I have murphy on my back the whole time, as you can see from what happened.

Facts:

I think the pins were bent before the time, I suggest people do unboxing videos as proof in the future to learn from my mistakes.
It is very strange that 2 single pins on different spots on my motherboard are bent, if I made a mistake would there not be more of them bent because they are so small?

The fact that the mobo gave me trouble from the start suggests that it was a faulty motherboard from the start.

They suggest that they can try to fix it, but with no guarantee, this will solve the problem.

Any advice, please?
1. All motherboards comes with a plastic insert (I doubt the pins would have been bent when you received it). *It can happen though
2. Wootware are one of the most reputable companies when it comes to exchanges and refunds.

Something is off here.

Come to think of it, my last DOA motherboard was a B350 BioStar from RussalPC.co.za and he exchanged it for me the next day, no issues. Apart from Wootware I like RussalPC.

Plastic insert makes sense, they would want to force protection of pins when shipping.

Hi All

Thanks for all the input

Wootware were able to repair the motherboard, they are still testing the other components more in-depth to ensure that I do not experience any more issues.

I again thank Wootware for their excellent service, I don't think any other supplier would have done so much for their customers.

And look how many people learnt that the pins moved from CPU to motherboard because of this thread :D
