ChatGPT-assisted books flood Amazon Kindle store

ChatGPT is credited on over 200 ebooks in the Amazon Kindle store as a coauthor, and this might only be a fraction of new books that used the technology, Reuters reports.

It isn’t compulsory (or enforceable) for authors to disclose that they used ChatGPT, making it extremely difficult to get an accurate count of the number of books written by the language model.

I wonder whether these books are any good...
Maybe. For shorter stories it's not bad, once you get to something a bit longer it repeats the same thing over and over, leaves plot holes, changes the direction of the story on a whim, and goes off on unbelievable tangents.

It does a far better job at writing 50 500-word stories than one 25,000-word story (which I haven't been able to get it to do - it seems to have a limit to the length of its replies - but you can "force" it by telling it to expand on what happens next). It should be excellent at compiling a book of short stories.

It can't do it today, but I bet you someone is training a model right as we type, or it's already done and we are completely oblivious. We have an extensive library of electronic books all neatly labelled, reviewed (Goodreads) and categorised. Perfect training set.
